7.62x39mm barrel turned down to .650 under handguards, safe or not? I ask becasue I would like to install a JP heat sink on a 7.62x39mm AR, but JP changed the specs on their heat sink. It used to be for barrels of a larger outer diameter but is now available only for barrels with an OD of .650 under the handguards.

Thanks, I feel much better now. Especially thanks fo the AK OD barrell measurment. I had no idea they were that thin. No wonder they heat up SO very fast.

I'm planning one day to build a 7.62x39mm AR, hopefully on the lower  that takes AK mags, anyways, I'm really looking forward to the hopefully positive effects of the JP Heat sink.
