The footage is kinda old. Taran has switched to an LMT fixed rear sight on his limited-irons gun now. The sight he is using in the program is the one that Bushmaster sells.  Looks a bit like the Larue though.  Taran has been shooting Tactical -scope division almost exclusively this year, and has one his division in every match he entered, and overall in most of them, even against Open division shooters.  While the difference between rifle divisions is small (two optics in open can be argued as a slight advantage), shotguns and pistols are much different. Winning with a 9-round SG, no comp, porting, or optical sights, against 11-round guns with muzzle comps, ported barrels and red dot sights is no small task. Ditto for going up against Open .38super race pistols, with optics and full comps, shooting a Limited SVI .40.

We started out doing his rifles partly as a favor, and partly just to see how the 3-Gun game worked. The response so far has been fantastic. Look for a lot more MSTN-built guns when 3-Gun season rolls around next year.

Taran shoots Tactical (Irons on occasion, but usually scoped). Michael and Jerry both shoot Open division). I don't think any of them load their own match rifle rounds. The guns are typically tuned to the rounds they are shooting however.  There are many things you can do. getting the correct balance is the trick. The comp/brake is the biggest factor, then springs, gas, carrier and buffer weights, as well as overall gun balance and weight.  Takes time to get the right combination.  We set up first for reliability, then speed.  Fastest is never good enough if the gun doesn't run every time.
