BTW, I wonder what it would take to bring the bottom rail section all the way out just like the top portion. I understand it make the the bayo lug useless but the extra rail space at 6 o'clock would be worth it to me.

First you would need to get a hold of an MRF-MX lower rail section. Troy Ind. does not keep a parts supply on hand as all parts have been going to new production. They are in the process of creating a parts inventory to comply with government contract provisions (I didn't ask if they had the contract yet, or if this was part of the CQB kit that MRF is currently submitted for). So this might be a ways off.
Second you would need to cut off the bottom of the handguard cap and shave the bayonet lug. You may also have to shave the sling point if that contacts the lower rail panel, but I believe it should clear.
Once those two things are accomplished, you could easily use the MRF-MX lower rail panel. I agree that it would be a great setup. When Troy Ind. starts to have a parts inventory I'll likely purchase an MRF-MX lower rail and make the modifications to my MRF-CX equiped rifle.
