Excellent post and pics Monty! The LaRue Tactical 7.0 FF rail system addresses a lot of the KNOWN issues with FF tubes (barrel nut and HG nut backing off). With this new barrel/HG nut locking system, no one will EVER have this issues again! The fit and finish is the best I have seen on ANY rail system, all four rails meet the 1913 spec (as Monty said) and is priced below the competition!

Great!!! Appreciate those shots.
Approximately, what did it cost if I may ask? Wished I saw this on Friday and prior to ordering a Knight's Armament RAS. While it wouldn't much matter for visible/IR lighting, I've been concerned with the ipotential mpact any wobble of the handguard would have on a sighting systm such as Red Dot or Laser. USMC-0302 |

The price of the 7.0 with 3 Tango Down Rail covers is $262 and without them it is $247. C4 |

LaRue just took over the rail-forearm world |
Ooh, ooh, me likey When are they going to be available for sale?

$247, plus a few bucks for the big brown truck.
With TD panels it will go for $262, plus BBT. (Damn good deal there!) I think Grant beat me to it. USMC-0302: Just sell that RAS on the EE, and get yourself the "Cadillac" |
Damn, pics are working for me right now.
What other lengths are they considering? |
They are working on a 12.0 right now! And yes I am taking back orders for them now.... C4 |

Pics are appearing again.
If the pics do not appear for you, just email me and I will reply with pics. Don't know what the deal is with Photobucket??? |
No pics for me either, any possibility of canucks getting these?

Pretty soon Mark will be known as "Mr. Badass Knife Maker" too. You guys should check out the new issue of Tactical Knives. The LTK looks like it could castrate something pretty mean..... |

Would you happen to know how much they weigh? Oh, and BTW, how much regular carbine handguards+delta nut assy weighs...for comparison sake
i wish they had heat shields on the bottom of the rail like my rasII ...
are there plans for midlenth and full size sizes ? |
They weigh right around 9.9 ounces... C4 |
LaRue Tactical is working on a full length rail system as we speak... C4 |
Just give me a day or two....or three. |

The 7.0 is around 9.9 ounces... C4 |

Thanks Grant, found that lower down on the thread. |

Counter Sunk heads on the retaining screws would look a lot cleaner.
The retainer design is a nice touch! |
I belive that if they were counter sunk any more that the bolt would be hard to tighten.... C4 |
Grant,
Do you have an idea how much the rifle length rails will be going for? |
They will be $314 with 3 TD rail covers.... C4 |

I CONCUR COMPLETELY WITH MCGRUBB'S ASSESSMENT THAT YOU HAVE TO SEE THIS FOREND TO APPRECIATE ITS THOUGHTFUL DESIGN & PERFECT EXECUTION.
LUMPY DOES NOT OFTEN PONTIFICATE, BUT WHEN HE DOES, PAY ATTENTION. HE IS CORRECT. IN A SHORT TIME, I PREDICT LARUE WILL OWN THIS MARKET. YOU HAVE TO BEHOLD THIS THING TO APPRECIATE THE DETAIL WORK THAT HAS GONE INTO IT. THE MACHINING AND ANODIZING ARE FLAWLESS. WHY CAN'T ANYONE ELSE DO LASER ENGRAVING LIKE THIS? AS A BUILDER, I REALLY LIKE SEVERAL UNIQUE ASPECTS OF THE LARUE TACTICAL FOREND, SUCH AS THEIR NEW STAINLESS GO/NO-GO ALIGNMENT TOOL AND THE KNURLED PORTION ON THE HANDGUARD NUT. THE BLACK OXIDE TREATED STAINLESS STEEL LOCKING PLATE AND HARDWARE ARE JUST OVER THE TOP. THE LARUE TACTICAL FOREND IS SET UP TO TAKE THE KAC HANDGUARD PANELS. OF COURSE, IT WILL ACCEPT ANYTHING FALCON OR MAGPUL OFFERS, AS WELL. I THINK I'LL GO WITH THE LADDER PANELS ON MINE. MAYBE NONE. THE ANODIZING IS TOO PERFECT TO COVER UP! YES, WE WILL OFFER BOTH THE LARUE TACTICAL 7.0 AND THE 12.0. AND YES, WE WILL OFFER "PACKAGE DEALS" ON LMT UPPERS WITH THE LARUE TACTICAL 7.0. WES GRANT M.S.T.N. |

Here are some more pics of the 7.0.
C4 www.gandrtactical.com Notice the locking device that keeps the Barrel & HG Nut from EVER backing off! |

This may just be me, but your first pic makes the magazine appear to be longer than a standard 30 round USGI magazine. Just looks weird to me.... But the LaRue stuff looks good! |
mattld,
you're right...it does look funny. But it's a standard Labelle 30rd mag. Guys, this thing is nice...... Mark LaRue hit the nail square on the head with this one. |
Thanks! Pic takig is not my "thing." But every once in awhile they turn out good. |
Is that common with the KAC FF RAS? |
Yes it is and with ANY OTHER FF Rail System as well! C4 |
I will need to keep the Larue FF in mind for my SAM-R build Thanks |
Is there enough space on the lower rail to slide on a KAC rail panel, or do the FSB and lug get in the way?
just hard to tell from the pics Thanks ADH |
Am I the only one who noticed "Live Free or Die" etched on the right side above the bottom rail?
Nice touch. Sounds like LaRue is 110% pro-citizen RKBA. |
I'm thinking of getting a LMT 10.5" with a DD 9.5, but if Larue will make something similar to the 9.5, I may be interested.
So, the big question, what does the Larue do better than the DD? And what does the DD do better than the Larue? I can see some obvious differences, but for the guys that have used (or sold) both, what's the straight poop? |
Or maybe the bigger question is when will the new DD rail be available? (Continuous top rail and removeable lower rail.) |
That's the truth. How about the URXII and whatever the hell Colt cooked up for the SCAR submission? If I was a rich man, I'd go with the MRP right now, but I don't know if something better is waiting around the corner. Too many cool new products, not enough info or money. |
To answer your first question, DD does not make a 9.5 any more and as far as I know most dealers have sold their stock (my guess). Here is a comparison for you: DD 7.0 is 9 ounces and the LaRue 7.0 is 10 ounces DD 7.0 has two Picatinny spec rails (12 & 6) and the LaRue 7.0 has 4 Picatinny spec rails DD 7.0 is a hair slimmer than the LaRue 7.0 (due to all 4 rails being in spec) DD 7.0 is more expensive than the LaRue 7.0 DD 7.0 does NOT have an anti-rotation system for the HG & Barrel nut and the LaRue 7.0 does These are the unbiased facts about the differences between the two rail systems.... C4 |
It might be a long long time before they release it.... C4 |
Any info on the new DD rails? EDITED to fix code. Also to say see my post on page two from today (actually just now) bumping the thread back to life. If we're waiting on the government to decide SCAR, then who knows (and Grant is right, it could be another 18 months). But it sounds like something will be happening with SCAR here in the near future. What, I don't know. We'll see if anyone answers my recent post. |
