This company sells genuine Colt products.  They sell a Colt M4 collapsable stock with heavy buffer for $160 and a 16.1" bbl M4 upper with bolt for $899.  Is this a good price to pay for going all Colt or is there someone out there selling Colt M4 stuff cheaper?

It does seem a tad high but I can't find anyone else who has real Colt M4 stuff and I guess an extra $200 for an upper wouldn't kill me.  Anyone know does Colt still sell M4 uppers (legal length) to the public or any other accessories?

Yeah they do and you can check with SAWLESALES for an M4 upper but C4iGrant has the best advice of all.  When you buy an LMT upper you are getting a Colt upper (where do you think Colt gets them from ) for a hell of a lot less money.  You are paying extra for the Colt name!

Actually SAW has:

SA03027 UPPER RECEIVER GROUP, LE6921 W/O BOLT GROUP - FLAT TOP UPPER W/ CARRY HANDLE 14.5in 1/7 M4 BBL
for $899.00

The same item at Hoplite is $799.00

According to Tazaroo's original post Hoplite quoted him $899!  Either way you cut it you're still spending more for the same thing.  He'd be better off getting an LMT upper and saving over $200.

I was at first fixated on a 16" M4 Colt upper, but gave in to the peer pressure on the board and bought an LMT.  I don't regret it (though I did manage to later pick up an all-Colt M4 upper less b/c/ch for $550 ).

I'd recommend the LMT too.  You can spend the extra $200 cash plus a little extra on a RAS II SSS (some dealers have them in stock).  Try Excalibur Arms.

Tazaroo- I have always been a die hard Colt fan.But after my recent purchase of a LMT 16" upper from MSTN I would reccommend LMT anyday over a Colt. The fit and finish are second to no one.

And shoots great also.

You might also check out Armament Services International. I bought a 14.5" Colt M4 upper from Van and was very pleased with it.

14.5" sounds cool but my lower is semi auto.  Is there a real long flash suppressor on it?

That includes the bolt/carrier and charging handle.  My quotes were without those items.  Hoplite is still $100 cheaper no matter how you look at it.

With the M4 upper, does the barrel step down for the M203 on the handguard get in the way or does it work with other accessories.  Also does the front sight get in the way when using a scope (ACOG) with the carrying handle removed?

They also offer it in a 16" version. In fact, the 16" is priced cheaper than the 14.5". Go figure.

If you really wanted a 14.5" upper, you could remove the factory A2 suppressor and have someone permanently attach a Phantom or Vortex to get you above the legal 16" limit.
