I think you'll be pleased with your M73. The quality is excellent and once mounted the system is as solid as a rock! I originally bought mine as a "try it and see" type of thing but it's remained on my primary M4 ever since! Make sure you get some photos posted once you get it installed.

Can you possibly get some up close pics of the rails and the cuts? That was the biggest issue with the one I looked at, it had flash from the casting process.
Oh and you all would shit if you knew who actually made them. LOL  Edited to add: And yes I agree, Grant is good people to deal with. |

I thought everyone already knew that ARMS made them...  It's common knowledge that Surefire and ARMS have been working very close with all their products so it would only be logical. IMHO, the whole issue about the top rail height not matching receiver rail still needs to be addressed. |

LOL, no I didn't know that was common knowledge. And from what SF says, there is no plans (as of the time I received the email at least) to do anything about the height.

I answered this question in another post today, but will answer it again. The rail is set that way specifically for a (PEQ) laser so it is closer to the bore. Most operators mount their optics on the receiver anyway so this shouldn't be an issue. I will be building an M4 with them and will sit a LDI OTAL on it.  C4 |

Grant,
I gotcha and understand about the optics and PEQ mounting but they should have just made it like my KAC MRE and make one low and one high rail to be mounted as needed. That would be the best of both worlds... IIRC, the uneven rail became and issue because Surfire's advertising said that it would good for mounting optics, also in that same article they mentioned that it was also a FF rail...

Mine should arrive from Grant this afternoon. I cant wait to get this thing installed!!!
I have spent a lot of money at G&R. I can say that not only have I received top quality parts at the best prices around, but I have also found a guy with the level of customer service and knowledge that is so far above the competition its unbelievable. Grant has spent days emailing back and forth with me talking about $10 parts before. Try that with another company and see where you get. Brian |

You can mount an EOTech or Aimpoint on it without any problems. We are talking about just a hair difference. The FF thing was really a matter of personal opinion. I believe that it doesn't FF the barrel and they do.  C4 |

Ill take the firsh over the surefire system any day the only disadvantage was the installation, are the rails and the ff tube one piece on the sf system

The FIRSH is ok, but there are much better FF tubes out there. If you don't want to mess with taking everything apart, the M73 is the way to go. C4 |

It depends on the project application. IMHO, a free-floating system on a CQB or non-target AR isn't really needed. One advantage a two-piece system like the Surefire has over a one piece tube like the FIRSH, is if you plan on building an AR with a 14.5" barrel and permanently attached FS (which is what I'm throwing together). With the pinned/sliver soldered FS, any one piece rail system is pretty much permanent also (unless you break or grind the FS off). |

I might be borrowing a friends digital camera some time this week. If so, I'll get some pictures up. However, for right now I can say that the M73 I received has no flashings or tool marks and the rail cuts are crisp and even. The black parkerized finish is really nice. |

One of my local shops has 9 or 10 sitting in stock. They all seem to be VERY well made, and do not show flashing or any other flaws.
I'm still trying to figure what this will do better than the YHM. My question is simply because the YHM is available much cheaper to me, and aligns with the upper rail. |

Well two things the M73 will do better than the YHM is that you can use a TD vertical grip and an ARMS throw lever on them. You can also mount an optic on the M73 and IT WILL STILL CO-Witness. If your local gun shop is selling the M73 at full retail then you need to shop around a little my friend! C4 |

We sell both the SF M73's & the YHM two piece h.guards and both are nice sets. The SF are certainly a bit more expensive but the included ladder panels are a nice bonus. Besides the price difference, the only issue with M73 that I ever bring up is the fact they're not a FF type system as originally advertised by SF. Probably the only other complaint I've had is about the bright white print but it seems most manufacturers are doing that now. As for the YH 2 pc. h.guards, you can mount an ARMS mount on YHM handguards and it will be rock solid. I've had numerous ARMS 17's on them w/out a problem as well as trying 19, 19s & 22's on them. I've had GGG grips go on w/out problem, First Samco & TDI polymer accessories, KAC panels, SureFire X200A & ton of clamp on accessories & mounts. If anyone gets a set of YH h.guards from me and has an ARMS mount that doesn't fit they can return the h.guards for a full refund, including s/h.   |
