Colt sporter flash suppressor removal, do they come off. Are they silver soldered on? Is low heat needed? Would like to remove them for cleaning purposes.

Never had a problem with my Colt, it came right off using an armorer's wrench [:)]

Ditto above comments, btw there's nuthin on the FS ya can't clean with a liberal application of CLP and a toothbrush. Negating the removal need. [;)]

Good, Thanks. It seemed to be on pretty tight just checking before I put to much torque to it.

3/4" wrench will do the trick.  No real need unless you are swapping FH's or barrels though..

It's off. Took a lot of torque, had the barrel in the vice using the aluminum barrel blocks, rapped leather around the barrel but after about 30lbs. of torque it would start to turn. There was some type of thread locking compound on the threads, once it was broke loose it was still hard to turn.

What about the crush peeler?  Can it be used again?  Where do I find a new one to install a new FH?

The peel washer was stuck on and had to be removed by hitting it with a rubber hammer. The new type of washer is a crush washer, you just tighten the FH until it comes to proper position. You can still get the peel type but they can be hard to work with, you can buy these at all AR suppliers like www.bushmaster.com , www.armalite.com , rock river ect. The Knights QD FH is real cool, these come with a series of different thickness washers, you use the proper combination to position the QD FH, impact guns ( http://www.impactguns.com/store/kmc_mws.html )have these on sale.
