Doe a medlength carbine require a carbine buffer or standard rifle buffer or will both work?

Thanks

Runs w/ a std. CAR buffer, not "H", 100%, it might run w/ an "H" but I've never tried it.  Wouldn't recommend a Rifle length buffer though.

Midlength carbine = Carbine Buffer

Midlength Rifle  = Rifle Buffer

Then what buffer would you use for an 18" mid-length?

SMV,

I assume you are beign funny.

What buttstock you use will determine your buffer.
Carbine stock - carbine buffer
Rifle Stock - rifle buffer.

Actually I was just curious, but thanks anyway.

Kevin,

I need some clarification here (please).  I was thinking that the shorter carbine buffer was necessary not only to allow for the collapsible stock but also because of the shorter gas system on a carbine.  It appears this not the case, correct?

Thanks

Oops, sorry adh, KevinB's right, that's a habit of his, I just made an "@$$ outta me and me", automatically thinking, w/o thinking,  that your middie wore a collapsible.  KB's right follow that rule above.
Thanks KevinB.

I've used the 16" RRA mid length upper on a lower with std rifle stock/buffer without any problems.  Also swapped it out onto a preban lower with collapsible stock and "H" marked buffer, again without any problems.  Seemed like the mid length gas system is very forgiving/adaptive.

I have used mine with an A2 stock with standard buffer, and a CAR stock with short buffer.  Both worked just fine.  This was with a RRA midlength.

Thanks Troy,

It never occured to me the 'odd' stock types.
