Just saw a photo of a Task Force 20/121 SF operator at militaryphotos.net, link here (sorry, I couldn't figure out how to post the pic here):

http://media.militaryphotos.net/photos/special_forces_and_task_force_20/aak

I've never seen an M4 configured quite like this, and can't ID the can or the telestock...any ideas?  Just curious.  Thanks.

Will

The can is a Knight's Armament suppressor as per the SOPMOD kit.

The stock looks like a standard early telestock to me with a rubber pad on the back, a Knight's QD sling attachment and it looks like there may be some kind of field-improvised cheek pad on it.

Thanks Bartholomew. Maybe it's the angle, or my bad eyes, but the telestock doesn't look like the old style one to me and I wasn't sure it was the KAC can either...

You may be right on the telestock - something about the lines of the stock don't look right for an early telestock; but it does have the same tiny footprint as the early telestock and it looks like something has been taped down on the front and wedged under the stock pad on the back - so it could be a field modified version.

Looks like an early tele, w/ KAC's 1 point pushbutton sling swivel attachment at the rear.

It looks like he's running a JP enterprise ajustable gas block.

Interestingly there are no backup sights on that weapon.

That's a good eye, (I stand corrcted) I wonder why he has the upper but no suppressor from Arms tech (you'ld think they'ld just sell them as a unit).

Easy.  Two type "N" alkaline batteries.

Does that make me a [s]Trijicon[/s] EOTECH buff?  Do I win a hat?

>EDIT< Damn! You beat me by two minutes.  (I'm a slow typer)

I dunno.  Looks like and RAS with a IR designator on top to me.  Doesnt appear rotated.

It is not rotated the PEQ2A is ontop of the RIS.

That's a standard fiberite telestock with a piece of foam-rubber pipe insulation wrapped around the top and taped in place as an improvised cheek rest.  It looks strange because of the angle of the rifle to the camera.

Now what I really want for Christmas is for some ar15er with machine tools to build the vertical grip he's using-
Its a 1" metal ring mount with a rail mount on one side and hole for the pistol grip screw on the other- Your Surefire goes in the ring and you have a poor man's M900..

How did you deduct all that info from that pic? It dosen't seem all that clear to me. I've made my own vert. grips before, if you have better pics fess up!

Here is one of my homemade grips.

Ahab,

Looks to me like the pressure switch to his PEQ is horizontal instead of vertical (follow the wire)

I cant tell if it is a M900 or not with that blocking.

Here you go- A much better set of pics w/ dimensions and construction details:

..I've seen this setup a couple times before- otherwise I wouldn't have been able to figure it out from the pic on the previous page.

BTW I dig the DIY grip and cheek rest!

"Ring outside diameter: 1.504
Ring ID: 1.008
Ring length: 1.212
Sure-fire 6P OD: 1.000

just to give you a better feel for the overall size of the grip, it's height from the top of the grabber rail to bottom of the grip is: 5.820
The grip is secured to the ring by a self-locking allen head bolt. The bolt is then threaded directly into the ring, from inside the grip. Tap and die set is definately required"

How do kids and airsofters keep you from looking at pictures, just don't read their comments.
What did you know about the military when you were 15?
I was reading Gung-Ho, SOF back in 78.

Ahab, thanks for the pics. I'm not too crazy about the pistol grip as a vertical grip but there are some ideas there that I could use in the future.

Thanks!
