Pro's Con's of the PRI Flip sight with the SIR 58MOD?  Should I just leave the front sight alone and install the SIR.  I was thinking that since I have to remove the front cap to install the MOD version, I might as fwell go all the way and replace the sight with a flip up sight.
Any recommendations would be appreciated...

I'm planning to do exactly that (as soon as I can save up the Dinero for the SIR).

I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone knows of a better setup.

(sorry Corey, I had to.)

Go for it.

The std. A2 sight tower might have slight edge in rugedness, very slight.  On a regular upper you might need to worry about it getting hit sideways and canted.  On a #58 Upper, the #59 pretty much protects the sight from sideways hits.  DO IT!

/S2

BTW everybody that's Treetop's Rifle up there.

PPS: If you were wondering what it looked like w/ a std. frnt st.?

Tree, they were.

ARMS originally cut a #58 for a trial they attended for the "Varsity Boys".  Later they re-designed the #58 and 1 of their concerns was the PRI.  Long history between ARMS and PRI, they tend to "consider" 1 another.  BTW, nice settup above, hope you don't mind  borrowed it.

Sweet Pictures... Outstanding.  Exactly what I want to do, but if I wanted to temporarily keep the conventional sight tower, can I just cut off the handguard cap or do I have to remove the sight tower anyway?

So I know if you gotta ask.....

What does a 58 MOD go for these days?

You can easily simply cut off the front cap.
Dremel most of the way and tin snip for accuracy.  EASY!!!

Since the sight is partially obscured by the SIR, I question how quickly it can be deployed.

If you look at the above pic, you will notice that the PRI release button is fully and easily accessed with the 58MOD. Folding front sights in QCB combat are normaly in the upright position and do not need to be quickly deployed for that reason, there already up. Rear sight folders are usualy down, but have the option to also be up, and are the most needed in a hurry and easiest to get at fast.
Good shootin, Jack

Can the PRI flip-up front sight be installed without removing the (permanently installed) flash hider? I could cut off the current front sight.

Hawkeye,

Nice pics, I like it![:D]

BTW, how much heavier does the 58-Mod feel than the 50?

I havent held a 50, so I cant comment on the weight difference. All I know is, I LOVE my 58Mod.
