JaY The only difference between the upper stamped w/ the 7.62x39 and the regular 223 is the "7.62x39" stamped on it. I would guess Colt did that so that on one would try to chamber a 223 in it (since externally, it looks like a 223). Just my guess.... Edit- Any barrel w/ the barrel extension installed will fit. Do not try to remove the extension from one barrel to reuse in the other one. Odds are it will never index right. So just get one w/ a extenstion on it (ie ready to install). |

The only other caveat is that the elevation wheel on the 7.62 uppers are unmarked as to range, so you'll have to figure out you own number of clicks up from full down for various ranges

I have thought about just selling it and getting another Colt A3 or M4 upper and the 16" heavy barrel. Billbo on here has both the Colt upper and the barrel. Selling it is a good idea. I definately want to avoid buying the Tactical upper complete or assembled, it is way over priced.
Yes, it is a complete 16" Heavy A3 with carrying handle, 7.62 bolt, carrier, and charging handle. JaY |

I take it that this is probably a pre ban 7.62x39?
If you do sell the barrel assembly, make sure you include the bolt, as the extension and bolt wear in together. I just noticed, you are from WA. You west side or east side of the hill? |

Yes it is a preban and will include the bolt with the barrel if I end up parting it. I am East of that hill.
