Do the A1 and A2 buttstocks share the same buttplate assembly, or are they different sizes?

It depends. Some of the real old A1 buttplates are glue on. If it is the A1 buttstock with the removable buttplate, it is the same size as the A2 and vice versa.

Thanks, Reb.  It is a removable plate with a trap door.

FWIW, DPMS sells an A1 butt plate and they're a perfect fit on my RRA A2 buttstocks. They only cost a couple of bucks.

I like the smooth surface because they don't snag on your clothes like the checkered A2 buttplates do.
