Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Markings on Colt M4 upper

I just received a new Colt M4 upper.  I noticed that their are white marking (T2, T4, T6 etc) along the top of the receiver.  I hadn't seen these before and was wondering what the story was with them.  Thanks in advance.
