I am not looking for one of the $300, strap everything including the kitchen sink to the accessory rail, tubes.  Instead I would like a simple tube, not too expensive, without rails and gadgets, ported for heat release.

Any ideas?

If you can get dealers price from Brownells they  sell Clarks CF handguards similar to hiperforms..a little more expensive bout the same quality..
PRI will sell you theirs without rails..Im sure
also you can take them off...
From what you have said Id say Hiperforms is your best bet

i like armalite tubes for this very reason.
they make both black and green fiberglass tubes and they run 90 bucks from armalite last time i checked, though you may find them a few bucks cheaper if you shop around.

i did bolt on a short bit of rail to one of mine for a light and it works just fine.

edited to add that it is fiberglass not carbon fiber if thats important to you.

I was in there a few days ago and they are manufacturing some sweet new CF tubes.  They are having a photo shoot done, so you should be able to see them soon.

That sounds interesting.

I have a hiperform tube on my lightweight AR. I like it a lot. It doesn't have vent holes, but I suppose they could be drilled. These tubes handle heat very well. It was $100 for the ultralight version.

I like the Armalite tubes as well (fiberglass), but these are much heavier (work great for my varmint rig).

Briley makes one too.  Brownells has it: $99.95
Not ported though, and only in rifle length.

I have a brand new Briley full length C/F tube I'll sell for $80, including shipping if you're interested.
