has anyone had any problems getting the side sling swivel verical on there sir #45? i just got a SOP sling and no matter where i start turning it it only goes tight at its horizontal postion..so right now its loose and spinning

No problem.
All side mt'd SIR swivels do just that swivel.  That ball detent is there to help it stop from unscrewing, it won't stop it under all cond.'s, but will help.  The sling itself is what stops the swivel from unscrewing completely.  The swivel will never screw down to the point that it tightly screwed down.  That wat as the weapons position changesthe swivel can move also.  I use a 1pt. sling and just attached te extra swivel to the sling, in case I need it for a 2pt. etc.

After you tighten it, back it off one turn so it will swivel. That's why there called sling swivels. They need to be able to turn like trhat so the sling doesn't bind up.                                           Good shootin, Jack
