Assuming the "crime bill" sunsets, I was wondering if:

A person could obtain a Colt lower receiver (such as the ones R Guns sells, minus the buttstock that has never been built into a rifle) and build an AR pistol, sorta like the ones that Gunsmoke Enterprises used to build on the Bushmaster receivers back in the good ol' days.
If anyone has an opinion, I would like to hear it.  Thanks

someone posted a pic of an AR pistol that they built from a kit awhile ago probably a year or so and I thought it would be fun to have one.It did not have a buffer tube from what I remember. if anyone has AR pistol pics could you post them please

Thanks, Troy.  You are right. The pistol version is for all intents and purposes, just one of those gee whiz things.  I probably need it like I need another hole in my head.  I saw one of the pre-ban Gunsmoke guns at a show a few years ago and thought I needed one.  However, for over 2 grand I would rather buy another Rolex.
Thanks for your opinion.  I was thinking the same.

When the ban sunsets I plan to build a pistol on a vigin lower using a 10.5 or 11.5 inch flat top upper and a pistol buffer tube.  Put a red dot (probably OKO) and a single point sling on it.

I'm with you GlockSHOOTER.  I was considering much the same.  Several of my friends compete in the Open class IPSC.  For kicks, I thought I would show up to a match with this configuration of an AR and watch their expressions (and see how fast I would get escorted out of the match).

Until the ban actually sunsets (which I don't see happening), I guess I will just have to look at the 2-3 grand prebans that I occasionally see at the gunshows.

I think if I get the sling length right I can grab the pistol grip and the free float tube (vert foregrip will still make it an AOW?) and thrust it up and forward quickly, and when I run out of sling the tension will give me a servicable shooting platform.  With a non-tube dot sight, like an OKO, I could aquire targets pretty rapidly and engage them at reasonable ranges (with M193 its going to be 50 yards or less).
