A couple of months ago I bought a new bushmaster with a 20" fluted barrel.  My patterns were TERRIBLE so I sent it back and bushmaster confirmed it was bad and replaced it.  Thanks Bushmaster!

I received my new barrel this week but where the gas port is appears to be a horizontal cut about 1/8 of an inch.  I talked to bushmaster and they said shoot the gun. So, I shot the gun and my groupings were very good (popping pennies at 100 yards).

My question is, is this a typical gas port opening for a bushmaster?  None of my other semi's look like that.

Thanks for any thoughts.
