Just about a week away from buying my first AR-15 wich will be a Colt Post-ban Match Target HBar .223 Just wondering what modification is the most popular to do first if there is one.  The model im getting has a fixed carry handle and standard stock.

Trigger. My first AR was a Colt competition Hbar Match flattop. It was 'supposed' to have an excellent trigger. My smith's scale went up to 15 pounds. It wasn't enough to set it off.

Went with a Jewell trigger and love it.

I know this sounds lame but I always started off replacing the standard pistol grip with one form Hogue.
Its probably the most popular replacement grip.

Ah, good.  That was my first modification, too and I was beginning to think I had dome something wrong.  [:D]

Still using stock BM trigger because I can't afford an Accuracy Speaks single stage yet.  [:(]

I started with the trigger and hogue grip and then within weeks ordered the armalite one piece scope mount and mounted the 6-18x40 scope off of my varmint rifle on it and then added a briley carbon fiber free float tube , Jard trigger and Olympic Ultramatch barrel and while it was all tore apart painted the furniture desert tan and swapped the scope for a 3-9x40 Bushnell 3200 elite scope . I have only had this rifle 2 months or so but since I am a gun snob I couldnt just run around with a plain old Bushmaster A3 for more than a couple days . I havent got to shoot it since its latest transmogrification since it has been raining everyday but am looking forward to seeing how it shoots now .

Thanks for input ! This is a great forum.  Looking at grip ...going to at least shot it for a while to try out trigger.  I had an olympic arms CAR-15 with a propoint red dot for about a week and sold it for a 500.00 profit before shooting it.  Looking at how much sights/scopes cost..Its like my photography hobby..The camera doesnt cost alot but a good lens does.  Kinda like a gun with a good sight...  Thanks again !

Collapsible stock on a R6530, then a fake "slipover" FH to replace the A2 FH.  That was back when Bushmaster answered the phone as, "Quality Parts Co."

Surefire M500. I think a light is the most important accessory, even more so than a spare mag. In addition to the fact that most deadly encounters are over within 3 rounds (one mag is way more than enough) it is also true that most happen is reduced to low light.
