Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Colt HBAR barrels not chromed?

Troy's chart of ar brands indicates that Colt HBAR barrels are not chromed since 1997.

Does that include 16" model 6721 barrels?  Mine is stamped C MP 5.56 NATO 1/9 HBAR.  Thanks.

A rule of thumb is if your barrel is in a preban config then Colt used a chromed barrel. However that is not a default. You need to do a visual inspection and its very easy to do. Look for the chrome "flashing" on the muzzle crown or the chamber. If it's chromed it should show up clearly.

I have a new hbar and it's chrome, JohnM's right look for the flashing it's the only way to tell, you'll get diff stories from diff people, even the colt service dept depending on who you talk to
