24" Heavy DPMS Bull barrel AR upper.... that danged barrel is crazy heavy... as in 5lbs ish heavy.
I only built it because CDNN had the barrels on clearance for very cheap... but the balance is waaaay out of whack. |

7.5” 5.56 AR pistol. Knew it would be a novelty going in, but still, total waste of time, money & ammo.

16" 338 Specter in a state that didn't allow SBR's. Total waste unless you live in a "free state".

Made the switch to a 10.5 with a different handguard that was so much better. But by the time I had it the way I wanted it was almost as heavy as a rifle  so I changed it up again to the way I should have built it in the first place.Live and learn |

Built a RRA Operator dissipator with all factory parts, didn't like it, sold all the parts except 16" dissy mid length barrel and receivers and rebuilt it will all Colt parts. Now its gtg.

I once used a barrel that was not threaded. Stupid and annoys the hell out of me.

I regret building a 9mm AR 5 years back when dedicated lowers were much more expensive. I could have bought a GHM9 for the money I spent on it.
I also regret a few of my cheaper builds. |

Not really a regret, but more of I don’t shoot it much. Wanted an SPR style rifle. Bought an 18” Larue barrel when they were on sale a few years ago. Thrn purchased a Blem Geissele rail. Sometimes I wish I would have put that money into something else.

AR-10 build that became too heavy to lug around, never could get it to operate right, didn't like it and became disinterested in it, sold it at a loss and moved on.

Got a rifle whose barrel is too heavy and/or muzzle not threaded? Have it reprofiled and/or threaded. It’s not expensive and it doesn’t change accuracy when done right. I’ve had Paladin Machine Shop Service, tp555(at)windstream.net, in Kershaw S.C., reprofile and thread several barrels for me, including that same mentioned DPMS 308 HB. He does it right. After he got it back to me (in less than two weeks), plus threading the muzzle, it was just as accurate as before and weighed over a pound lighter, closer to two pounds lighter IIRC.
I don’t understand why so many people are afraid to have their muzzles threaded and barrels reprofiled if there are no laws restricting such work. |

I hadn't considered it at all. I bought it because it was a deal, and because it is a stout brute. I wanted to try a stiff barrel profile... and it stumbled out of the Remington breakup. Any thoughts on a different profile ... or just cut the fence post shorter ? |

Sometimes you simply don't know what you like until you buy & try different configurations. After having owned a few 5.56 & 7.62 AR's with long barrels and fixed stocks, I found out about myself that I don't like 18", 20" and 24".
I like a light 16" with a collapsible LMT stock in an AR. Period.  Here's a rifle that started life as a a stock RRA 20" Nation Match A2. I had ADCO shorten and recontour the barrel to 18". I painted the stainless barrel black. Now wish I'd done it in 16" !! |

I had Paladin do mine .850/.750 GB/.740 to muzzle then threaded ? x 24 with 11* crown. Accuracy with the same boxes of 168 and 175 GMM ammo was absolutely the same for two 5 shot groups at 100 yards both before and after with each load. Of course, he can do what ever profile you want and your results may be different than mine, but on the several barrels he has reprofiled for me there has been zero change in accuracy. I did not change barrel length or gas port size or location. |

I built an SBR around a handguard that I spent way too much time hunting down (DD 9.5” fsp lite rail). Finally finished it once I tracked down the barrel I wanted at a not too absurd price (colt 11.5” fbi hrt bbq wtf w/fsp).
Once it was all put together I regretted building something based around just one part and convinced myself that parting it out would be the best thing to do. It sat in my safe collecting dust mostly because I was too damn lazy to take it apart. Fast forward to me shooting it more than anything else I own. |

14.5" 300blk for the same reason as the 16" guys.
My 4.75" 5.56mm AR is blast litterily not sure what these 7.5" guys are complaining about. |
