@Smurgeon

Good point. Knobby has been seen by many in the woods of these foothills. Still took the light off as I don't want to be accused of spot lighting, but left the Aimpoint on. Saturday, in the field:

Let a spike walk at sunrise. Enjoying hot bowls of tag soup thus far. The desert digital sling came in yesterday though so, that was nice.

Had this in the treestand last weekend, but switched back to a 16” 450 after having 2 deer run after the shot (both were shot around 89yds and ran 30 & 200 yards, w/good shot placement).
Usually they pile up immediately with a 450, which is why I use that round.  I lost about 500 FPS at the muzzle by going this short, which certainly neutered the round.

“Bolt action” 8.3” 450 Bushmaster on a SBR’d BRN-180 lower. Can is a Hyrbrid.

My go to's of today (I change tastes, yessir)

Pictured - for your viewing pleasure, ladies - Mk18 from DD with accoutrements (the usual) and a Colt CAR15 in that retro style; accompanying handguns today will be an H&K45C and a lovely Walther P5

Switched it up a bit today & tried out canted irons on the 14.5.  They aren’t nearly as stupid as I had thought they’d be.  Pleasantly surprised.

B5 Systems Enhanced SOPMOD stock
Bobro-GG&G gen 1 aluminum bipod
Surefire M961 weaponlight
Swampfox Arrowhead 1-10X24 illuminated BDC MOA LPVO
Warne aluminum quick detachable lever mount

Another hunting/ target carbine and could be used in an emergency, Colt 6920-EPR (Enhanced Patrol Rifle) upper half on older Colt M4 marked lower half.

Centurion Arms CMR M-LOK 13.5" handguard
Colt M4 16 inch gov't profile barrel

This is my "go to" when i am home in Atlanta. There it is obviously a urban setting with very real possibility of crime and other issues. I need to add a small light to it like a Surefire M300. Muzzle device has been swapped to run Plan B with a Turbo K. But love I it, a simple and light little LMT.

But now i travel 365 days a year. I cant do a SBR because i travel. This is my one and only rifle in my life right now. Hunting, plinking, long range work and defensive work if needed. I am mostly in rural areas now with very low crime. I can choose where i travel to for work and i like being "in the sticks". Chances of a home invasion type thing are almost non existent. Most of the time when i am in Wyoming i leave the house with the front door unlocked. I travel mostly out in Wyoming and Montana where distances really open up and i wanted to hunt (smaller game than elk) so i went 6.5 Grendel.  I feel really good about the energy 6.5 Grendel carries at longer distance and has amazing terminal ballistics from a defensive perspective.  The scope on 2X with the fire dot does surprisingly well up close but i should probable add a offset red dot. Have a Nomade Ti in jail for it that should round it out well. Run a X300 when i need a light so i can swap it back onto my pistol.

16” is still my favorite balance between size and muzzle velocity. Great size for a GP rifle.

Anyhoo, since mine unrepentantly flies in the face of ARF convention, I call it The Heretic.
16” M&P15, Adam’s Arms piston kit, Trijicon MRO, Troy BUIS, PigSkin (horned… attached with zip ties), some rail ladders, and a Phase 5 lever to round out all the aspects of it that trigger screeching from the orthodoxy.
It also shoots 1.75” at 100m with military ammo, and takes about 4 minutes to clean after 500 rounds, so I’m happy with it.
Also nuthinfancy did a good comparison between a standard birdcage and my YHM Phantom 2 flash hider.

Turns out that the changes weren’t so minor.

I decided that it was too heavy for what it was, I cannibalized the stuff I liked and sold what I didn’t.

It’s better now, but it still needs a light.

I've got two of those MCMR's. A 13 and a 10. For some odd reason the 13 get's stupid hot too early despite the same round count and drill with the 10. I just ordered a Mk14 Geissele 13.5 that should hopefully do the trick.

That's a nice rifle by the way. I went with the Modlite OKW for a similar set up.

Magpul Picatinny Rail Cover
BCM mlok QD sling swivels (one on each side - ambi)
Magpul MS4 sling (not pictured)
PSA Upper receiver
PSA BCGs

LMT MARS lower receiver
Larue MBT-2S Flat bow trigger
Radian Talon Safety
Holosun HS503G-ACSS / ADM T1 QD mount / EOTech G33 (AR pistol)
Primary Arms 1-8x FFP ACSS Raptor (carbine)
Magpul MBUS Pro LR rear sight (AR pistol)

Radian Raptor LT charging handle
JP centerless ground buffer spring
Magpul ASAP QD receiver end plate

The FN 509 Tactical handgun has a Holosun HS507C-X2-ACSS Vulcan sight (ACSS on every gun pictured). Also has an Apex trigger and striker. The gun has a threaded barrel, so the Liberty suppressor will mount to all three guns in the photo.

Thanks, Its one of my favorite rifles.  I wish EO was still in business.  Their grips felt high so end... if high end had a feeling...

This is a pic thread so here is my current go-to and home defense set-up.  12.5" Triarc barrel.  (I am currently building another fighting rifle that may be my new go to home defense rig)

I do have a sling for it.

Got your PM, I do not see that you used the IMG tags, or the Image button, it just shows url, I have quoted your post above.

I do know that there is a minimum post count to post pics for new members, and if you post correctly with the IMG tags, a white box will appear to you, and then it can then be "approved" by Team Members, and will show up in your post.

When you quote someone, the image tags are converted to URL tags so that the photo doesn’t  appear multiple times on the page bogging down the load.

This is where I’d normally say “pic thread” and add another photo, but therein lies the problem lol.
