FEEL FREE TO POST MULTIPLE FIREARMS IN SEPARATE IMAGES, heck, you might have 4 or 5 GoTo AR's!
Lets see images and discuss our best AR's, the ones we trust 100%. Tell us why this particular AR rifle, sbr or pisol is your SHTF or DUTY GoTo.  If you're at all like me, you may be collecting a lot of different AR's.  This may be due to the current political climate, the rush of training or maybe simply because you think the AR is one of the best firearm designs ever conceived.  Personally, I could never own too many AR's and hope to continue to add to the collection.  That being said, I do have my favorites.  My GoTo, must haves.

Mine is an LMT MRP.  At 14.5'', it is short enough to wield in confined spaces and also capable of making accurate shots out to 500yrds.  It is Night Vision ready, carries a good flashlight and is equipped with an illuminated 1-4 LPVO.  At 9.5 lbs with spare batteries, spare bolt parts and a bipod, I am comfortable carrying it with a sling for extended periods of time.  Most importantly, I have encountered very few failures and it is accurate.  I try to end most range days and training sessions with a minimum of one Mag fired from this rifle to maintain my familiarity and confidence with it.  I also have a spare 10.5'' barrel which I plan to run Suppressed.  I think the MRP platform is extremely durable and relatively accurate, especially when used in conjunction with an LMT Enhanced BCG.  There is a level of sacrifice in regards to weight, but in my opinion, the pros far out weigh the cons.  I may change to an M-LOK Upper in the near future to shave a few OZ's.
MANY CHANGES HAVE COME

I start with this KAC URX4 Mod 2 w/ E3 SR16 BCG

My Colt/Geissele 11-5 HRT.  This is my first choice, day or night, GoTo AR.

My GoTo Hunting/Truck Gun.  It's a 12-5 LMT in Caliber 6.8 SPC

She’s a bit portly at 8.something pounds. I might replace the barrel with a Faxon pencil 10.5 to save lots of ounces. Someone needs to make a lightweight LAM.

All LMT except the Colt BCG and LaRue single stage.

Short enough to get out of the cruiser without getting tangled up and maneuvers around nicely.  Very accurate.  With 75gr Hornady.  It’s light enough.  I am not crazy about this light and it’ll get replaced by a little Scout eventually.

10.3 DD Barrel, Noveske receivers, and the normal accoutrement. I could count on one hand missing a few fingers how many times this rifle has failed to go 'boom' in the 15k+ rounds I've put through it. Have total confidence in it.

My go to gun. I started building this rifle in like 2006. When it first started out, it had a Pentagon 3 cell light. Then swapped so many parts out that I think the only thing that remains is the Norgon Ambidextrous magazine release. Its days are numbered since I have a Radian A-DAC lower to swap in which will do away with it. With everything, the rifle weighs in right at 6 pounds.

Lower Receiver: V7 2055 Lithium Aluminum Receiver
Receiver Extension: V7 2055 Lithium Aluminum
Receiver Extension Lock Nut: PWS Ratcheting Castle Nut System
Buffer: JP Enterprises Gen2 Silent Buffer
Stock: Magpul CTR Milspec Stock
Buttpad: Limbsaver buttpad
Trigger: Geissele SD3G
Trigger Pins: V7 Titanium Geissele Pins
Buffer Retainer: V7 Titanium Pin
Grip: Executive Ordnance G10
Grip Screw: V7 Titanium Screw
Bolt Release: V7 S7 Steel Bolt Release
Magazine Button: V7 Aluminum Button
Magazine Catch: Norgon Ambidextrous Release
Selector: Battle Arms Development BAD CASS ST
Takedown Pins: Battle Arms Development Enhanced Titanium Pin Set

Upper Receiver: V7 2055 Lithium Aluminum Receiver
Barrel: Noveske Skinny Barrel, cut down to 13.1"
Flash Suppressor: B.E. Meyers 249F pinned in place
Gas Block: V7 Titanium .625" Block, Pinned in place
Gas Tube: V7 Inconel midlength Gas Tube
Barrel Nut: V7 Titanium Barrel Nut
Rail: BCM KMR Magnesium 13" Rail
Rail Locking Blocks: Titanium Replacement Set
Dust Cover: V7 Aluminum Dust Cover
Dust Cover Pin: V7 Aluminum Dust Cover Pin
Rail Covers: BCM Covers
Sling Mounts: Strike Industries Angled Mounts and V7 QD Sockets
Hand Stop: Railscales Karve
Bolt Carrier: JP Enterprises Full Mass
Bolt Carrier Key: POF Impingement System with Rollercam
Gas Rings: Spikes Tactical Ion Bonded Ring Set
Firing Pin: V7 Titanium Firing Pin
Bolt: Advanced Combat Bolt
Charging Handle: Raptor
Back Up Iron Sights: Spikes Tactical Billet Set
Optic: Trijicon RMR RM01
Optic Mount: Scalarworks LEAP Absolute Co-Witness
Sling: BlueForceGear Padded QD Sling
Light Mount: Impact Weapon Components Inline Keymod
Weapon Light: Surefire M600 Intellibeam
Weapon Light Body: Impact Weapon Components M600 Backbone
Weapon Light Tailcap: Surefire Scout machined to remove shroud

It's been through 10k rounds and has never had a single failure. It'll eat steel case Wolff ammo to good stuff without any wait a minute adjustments. It's been back country hiked across close to a 1,000 miles and more camping trips than I can recall. I hope to send it in for NP3+ plating soon to make it even smoother.

Primary Arms Compact Light
Seekins T1 Mount
Holosun 403R
Magpul Pro Rear
Spike's T2 Buffer
ALG QMS Trigger
PWS Ratcheting Castle Nut/End Plate

It's what I have. Trash Panda - PSA complete MOE+ lower, upper is Aero upper and forearm, Toolcraft Carpenter 158 BCG, Giselle super gas block and AR Stoner gas tube, .223 Wylde BCA heavy barrel, random charging handle, MBUS, and SIG Romeo5 dot. It goes bang every time I pull the trigger and I hit what I aim at, so I'm good. Disregard the dumb sling setup  that came off the next day.
Nothing fancy, can't afford anything fancy, but it's what I have.

Picked up another "Go To..." last week...worth every penny too.

My DD...this thing runs like a scalded dag.

And here are a couple of backups...one is none, two is one, etc...

One more added to the horde...BCM SOCOM

My venerable 6920, bought in 1998 when they first came out...

It's been through several iterations over the years...it's been used as a Patrol Rifle, and I've used the upper and buffer/stock on the M16A2 I was initially issued when I first got on my agency's Tac Team. I SBR'ed it several years ago, and it's never let me down.

Earlier versions...

Currently set up with a BCM upper and 11.5" BFH barrel, DD BCG, Brownell's Wrenchman 10.5" handguard, Aimpoint Comp ML2 in Larue mount, Troy sights, VG6 Gamma muzzlebrake, O-Light PL-2 Valkyrie, and Magpul CTR stock, MOE SL grip, and MS-1 sling. I recently replaced the S.I. Link foregrip with a Magpul MLok handstop.

I have the original Colt upper set up with the original 16.1" barrel that was trimmed to 14.5" several years ago by KKF, Colt BCG, Burris RT-6 w/ Larue mount, MBUS sights, VG6 Epsilon muzzlebrake, and Wrenchman 12.5" handguard w/ Magpul handstop.

I do not have a picture of it on hand, so placeholder.

Basic M4gery with a Colt 921 barrel, BCM upper, older Bushmaster lower (about to replace with an PSA M4A1 lower because why not), CMT lower parts (except for LMT selector), Colt BCG, CAR15 stock with zip-tied pad, KAC RAS2 (I still use a KAC VFG as a hand stop), ARMS 40L, Surefire 951 with a 400 lumen head, Gemtech G5, Noveske QD endplate, CQB front sling attachment, Blue Force Gear sling. One of these days I'll buy another Aimpoint for it, but I do a lot of shooting in the rain, and irons work better for me in that setting. Barrel was made in 1997 and has lots and lots of rounds through it. Still hits what I'm aiming at. I have never experienced a non-induced (for practice's sake) failure with the gun.

I own 9 ARs and the first one I would pick if liberals start civil war and the SHTF.

All Colt 733 clone.
11.5 pencil barrel with .070 gas port, so it will eat anything.
Geissele S3G trigger

sorry don't have pictures... my first choice would be my 3 gun rifle as I have the most time with it and never a glitch... A1 stock, Armalite Eagle lower with RRA NM trigger, RRA 16" mid with Midwest full float hand guard, Miculek comp, Hogue grip, Trijicon TA31F with off shore roll overs, scout lite from the prize table a Ft Benning
Link Posted: 10/25/2019 10:05:29 AM EDT
[#39]
I have many ARs but this one is as close to SHTF perfection as I can imagine.
And no, I don't lug around flash lights on my guns during the day time, before someone points out that it has no light. I can attach a light in about 5 seconds if I needed one but thanks ahead of time for the concern .

Both are Geissele URGI near clone uppers.
All internals on both are 100% Geissele with Geissle SDC triggers.
Buffer tubes are Geissele.

G33 magnifier I swap between the two.
