 Fuck me! 2020 sucks a big one. My mother died of cancer earlier this year. "Pandemic, pandemic, pandemic"..all over the news media .... Assembling my upper with this barrel https://bisonarmory.com/16-recon-6-8-spc-stainless/ and discovered it isn't contoured back 2.4" as shown here http://aesuppressors.com/images/sprdrawing.jpg only around 1.25". So I can't mount the collar. Bison shows pics of two contours on their site, one at the bottom of the page appears to be cut back far enough, didn't notice until today. I paid extra for the FDE finish also.  If I didn't work at a "secure" government facility I would take it to work and put it in a four jaw chuck and just turn it back myself. I have no access to machining equipment outside of work.  To add insult to injury I just found out the card I purchased for my new camera has too many GB, so I can't post any pics yet. It didn't say a damn thing in the manual that shipped in the box but the one online says 32GB max. Fuck Kodak too. Sorry for the rant. I have been purchasing parts and planning this build for a long while as the fun budget allows. Saw this on Bison's site... " Compatible with Ops Inc. / Allen Engineering brake & collar silencer systems" ...you know what they say about ASSuming. ETA: I am not putting down Bison Armory. The barrel looks great, very clean machining, beautiful rifling, I hope it shoots as good as it looks. Just a warning to folks to check your stuff before you torque down the barrel and install the gas block.  |

The description says it’s compatible, I’d go on that rather than the pic. Also, if it’s not compatible and is like the pic, most barrels can’t just be turned back and made compatible with the AEM5 collar. The collar is designed to work off the dimensions of the gas block journal, barrels that are compatible with AEM5 collars basically have a really long gas block journal. The portion of the barrel between a normal, short gas block journal and muzzle is too narrow for the collar, so even if it has that step at the muzzle, it won’t work. The collar will just fall down the thick part. Adco schooled me on that when I asked them to turn down a 16” Rainier Ultramatch barrel for the AEM5 collar

ETA: From muzzle to step 1.270" . Step diameter 0.725". Behind the step diameter 0.745" (0.0035" below minimum spec on A.E. drawing) Gas block journal 0.7495". He changed the profiles to the one you have there and didn’t update the pics before I purchased a 5.56 barrel. When I messaged to go “wth?” He stated I could use the M4 AEM5 collar. Not exactly good for a clone, and now discontinued unless purchased direct from Ron with measurements. At any rate the exchange we had and a community push after led to the AEM5 profiled 5.56 barrels returning, but unfortunately with this new profile versus the more correct early one. |

I see that BA does and SPR profiled 16" barrel. Has anyone done this (6.5G) and is the BA barrel cut correctly (for the collar) and is it any good (accuracy wise)? |
