Anyone have this and know if I can shave that guard off since I have a fixed guard on my lower?

Yes.

I did the same thing to mine for a lower I bought from Westford86.  My first attempt looks ok but I might have to remove it and put a little bevel on it if I get tired of the look.

It'd be pretty hard to shave it off but I bet a dremel would work good

I was just thinking a Miter Saw for a straight cut

Slow and steady.... don't rush it and you should be fine.

That'll cut off easily. If you don't have a dremel, use a fine tooth, metal cutting blade in a hack saw, then use something very sharp like a modeling knife,  to clean up the cut marks.
