depends on you and the scope my a4 has a 4xacog on it there is a sligght shadow but nothing that makes using it uncomfortable.
if you go reddot then cowitness is great above 4x the view will go right through the FSB you won't notice it. look thru the a4 pic thread. |

The front sight on my rifle looks like nothing more than a slight shadow in the scope.
It doesn't really bother me but I usually shoot it in the daylight. I imagine that if I shot it at dusk it might be a problem. |

Leupold 1.5-5X with a FSP. Never a problem in natural or artificial light.
Keep the FSP, it's the best buis you can get. I like a FSP with my Aimpoint. When I see the FSP come into view, I can find the dot faster. |

I really like the Aimpoints. I use them with a small riser/base. Works just fine for me. It puts the dot over the top of the front sight. Not enough of the front sight remains in view to really matter.

The FSA shadow depends on what optic you put on it. I never noticed any obstruction with my M4 with a ACOG, or the red dots sights I was issued but I sure noticed it on a shooing buddies rifle.
He put a new optic on his rifle and you could see the FSA as clear as a billboard. Yea... THAT was kinda distracting. |

Magnification makes the difference. 1x or 1.5x and you will see the front post, 3x and higher the most you will see is a faint shadow.
Ring height is important is you run a 1x4 or 1.5x5 scope, it needs to be 1.5" center height to clear the front sight at low magnification. Larue works great. There are lots of great scopes in the $600 range, the mount will cost you another $100/$200. Consider Leupold's 30mm 1.5x5 Vari-XIII with illuminated German #4 or duplex crosshairs. You can run the magnification down and turn the illumination on to use it like a red dot up close. Turn the magnification up and illumination off for precision work. Day and night capable. This scope is in high demand for 3-gun tournaments. |
