I noticed that your hand guard has an an un-slotted, yet drilled and tapped bottom. Does your hand guard have vent slots on top? I have a JP from 08, and the bottom of mine is slotted, but the top is drilled / tapped. I know they changed them slightly, but I wasn't sure how. I'm curious if that was one of the changes.

The top is drilled and tapped like yours but I could have got one with slots on top and a lot more of them for the same price. There is an aluminum heat sink on the barrel under the handguard that's not visible on the picture.
