Bought this Sabre AR back in 2008 and did not shoot it much. After attending a lot of carbine classes I decided to start using my Sabre and I thought the ACE stock limited my sling options and was on the long side and the foam was going to get torn up. I installed a mil-spec buffer tube, Noveske QD endplate, and a Magpul STR stock. It opens up a lot of options for me as far a slings go. So what do you think?

You must have gorilla arms man.  I usually have the stock just one click out.

I prefer the adjustable stocks myself.  I also like the storage of the STR and stocks like it.

ETA**  Do you have a QD on the rail for a second mounting point?

The ACE stock on collapsed about 2 or 3 inches total(just to the back of the foam sleeve). No QD on the rail....it was made before qd's were standard on rails. I'll put on some adaptors though so I can hook on to it properly with a QD sling.

Personally, I'm a big fan of the Magpul Sling Setups. I've got one on mine with the front attachment as well. Makes it easy for me to transition for comfort or use.

Just my .02

I think it's a huge improvement, but that's a personal choice kind of thing.

I'm a Magpul stock fan too. Have them on everything except for SP1's
I have an Ace sitting here that I've been going to throw up on eBay, for the longest time just haven't got around to it.
They used to be the hot setup years ago.
Too damn heavy!!

Good choice to me. I much prefer an adjustable stock.

The Ace is adjustable, it's just a club!

If it fits your needs then it is an improvement...to me I prefer the look of the STR

Its a personal choice thing. What may work for you on your rifle may not work for me on mine.

Is this an improvement

I would say yes but its your rifle, what do you think? Figure out which setup you liked better or worked better for you and you will answer your own question

Thanks guys! I thought the ACE stock looked good but it did not offer any QD point for slings so it had to go. Anyone know what they are worth? Thanks!

Does it work better for you?  Then yes, it is an improvement.  Looks better for sure, but that is personal preference and irrelevant.
