I was curious have any of you ever had a charging handle break in any way while charging your rifle?

I always ran mine like a left side charging handle, manipulating it by the latch. I've never had one break on me, but I've had them get loose enough they would sometimes pop out while firing. I don't know if it was the retention spring wearing out, or the latxh pin but it's not been a problem since switching over to BCM's.

If you do the whole unshoulder and peace sign grab thing instead, you probably won't have to worry about it. I prefer to keep the weapon in firing position, but I also follow forward with the latch depressed so as to not wear out the detent in the upper. Not riding the chargine handle, but following it. Uppers last a long damn time but nothing is more annoying than the detent wearing down and the chargine handle humping your nose while firing.

I had the roll pin break on mine. I replaced it with a BCM med latch, quite a nice piece IMHO.

I seen a bent charging handle. But that was a strange story. It had to do something with a round in the chamber and was stuck.

Normally, the roll pin breaks.

Well the reason i ask is  Im trying to decide if i should spend $80 + on a Raptor handle or if i should just buy magazines right now the way things are and wait on it,
Or maybe just buy a few extra charging handles... not sure which way to go with it.
-I might consider a gunfighter as well if i can find one used on here-
I do like to  charge it with my left hand so i was concerned i noticed i do put some pressure on it and wondered if i was going to end up bending it ...

Eh, I bent one while clearing a "bolt over" jam and I've seen several badger ord latches snap pins.

The problem is when you install a extended latch on a standard handle. All the force is on the roll pin and can tear out. The Gunfighter charging handle isn't open on the back. When the latch comes back it pushes on the back of the handle. This pretty much elimiates breakage. Also when you pull back on the latch you don't get that "Twisty" feel.
I have them on all my builds and is probably one of the best mods you can make.

This.  It hasn't happened to me, but looking at the mechanics of how they work, I can see how easily it could happen.
