JoeJeeps is wrong, Stag is every bit as good as the Sig.  They are both great rifles.

Get both is the correct answer

Stag with Plus Package but if not then the Sig

I'm a fan of both.

We carry Stag rifles on duty, and they've been excellent. Many, MANY thousands of drama-free rounds fired per gun, and we're not super nice to them.

I like the value of the M400 with the MOE kit, but I doubt you'll find one at non-gouge pricing anywhere. I also like the hard sling mounts.

Stag if you get the Plus Package.  Sig of you don't.

stag (CMT).  they have been making rifles longer, they have subcontracted for colt and MANY other companies in the past, and they really do make a decent rifle.  the quality on sigs P series handguns have suffered in recent years, while irrelevant to AR's it shows shotty company workmanship.  they havent been making AR's nearly as long as stag so i dont even know much about them.

but as said in this market, beggers cant be chosers.

Sig... Stag can't touch the extra, well-thought out features on the lower.

Sig M400 in a heartbeat

They are both very good rifles and I'm sure you would be equally happy with either.  Just to add some quick "stats", the base version of the Stag and Sig have similar specs:

- 4140 Barrel Steel
- Ar-15 / Semi-auto Bolt Carrier
- No heavy (H) buffer
- No individual HPT / MPT on the bolts & barrels (Stag does batch testing on their base rifles and I'm assuming Sig does as well)

...adding the Plus Pkg to the Stag gets you:

- 4150 CMV barrel steel chrome lined
- 1/7 Twist rifling
- Individually MP & HP tested and marked Bolt & Barrel
- M-16 Bolt Carrier
- Heavy (H) buffer assembly
- One extra 30rd USGI Magazine (two total)*

I love my Stag - get the "plus" option.

Not a single failure out of my Stag after about 2k rounds, shooting either federal or factory reloaded brass cased surplus ammo.

Both...

Or Stag if it has the plus package...Sig if it doesn't.

Love my Sig, it was recommended by our local Sheriff.

I can't speak of the Sig.  I do have a Stag Model 1 w/plus package and it's been great so far.  I really like it.

NYH.

I agree with the others, Stag if you get the plus package and sig if not.
