Hi all,
Just wanted to get this started up again. I'm curious as to how heavy or light the AR rifles/carbines/pistols you guys are running these days. This is my wife's AR15, 10lbs without 30rnd mags, 12lbs with 2 30rnd mags. She is 5ft. 6in @115lbs and she can run this system pretty well for an entire day. It's an all around gun from CQB to 400yard shots. http://i1336.photobucket.com/albums/o650/SHtFiNduStrIeS/AR15%20Bushmaster%20Battle%20Kit/DSCF0157A_zps6fbb2cb2.jpg http://i1336.photobucket.com/albums/o650/SHtFiNduStrIeS/AR15%20Bushmaster%20Battle%20Kit/DSCF0156A_zpsbddfad60.jpg |

even though its not an "ar" my HK g36K clone is right at 7.5 lbs with the dual optic. 7.3 lbs with rail and red dot.
My POF 308 build (with 22" JP super match barrel) im scared to weight, but i would EASILY say its 15 lbs. |

Light weight upper(pencil barrel) with centurion arms 10 in rail
Diamond head front and rear sight Aimpoint T1 red dot on Larue lower 1/3 cowitness mounts Vltor Imod stock with small tube of clp inside Magpul grip with extra bolt and firing pin inside Polymer magpul trigger guard SSA trigger Insight WL1-AA tactical light Battlecomp 1.0 BCM MOD 4 CH Magpul ladder rail covers Total weight unloaded 7.3 lbs Weight with magpul 30 round mag loaded a little over 8 lbs for my stick |
It is more about the balance to me than the overall weight. I like to keep my rifles under 8 pounds though. 7 to 7.5 is better.
Balance is the key, no doubt, All those front heavy beasts really slow me down! I'll go to so bizzare lengths to
keep the harem in balance. Can be really challenging when you get into rails and toys !!!! |

Ok so average load out is like 7-8lbs. I think 7-8lbs is the low end |
8.5 lbs to 11.2 lbs, dependeig on what is attached at the time.
9.5 lbs. nothin fancy, just rifle, Troy BUIS and Aimpoint T1. Aint no slouch thats for sure.
7.5 unloaded 8.7 loaded thats a socom barrel,GG&G buis,Surefire light on bayo lug rail,Aimpoint M4s bo bro mount,Vltor MOD stock, standard M4 handuards and thats with my Osprey equipped and DI upper bot exactly the same minus the Osprey system on one,Lancer L5 and AWM mags.

My wife's set up has the RRA 16" CAR Heavy barrel. She likes the weight for stability for longer shots, she rather engage from far than up close, but I think quick handling is sacrificed in CQB because of the weight.
Spikes 16 in mid lengh upper
RRA lower Magpul MIAD, ACS, ASAP, and MOE hand guards Surefire M962 Aimpoint Comp M2 Right around 10.8 lbs but it's balanced well so it feels good. I have a carbine class coming up in October we'll see how the weight really feels then. |
Mine is a bit front heavy with the YHM can. 11.5" bbl and I carry it all day and don't care. It may be heavy, but it's quiet and mine. I put it together for me so weight is what it is. I have no idea, and I really don't care too much. I like it, I'll carry it.
My 6.8 is around 9lbs.
Troy 10" rail nikon 2.5-10x42 monarch AD mount AFG |
My Noveske N4 14.5" is a hair over 7 lbs with optic and a loaded 30 round p-mag.
New Mod O weighs in like a blue ribbon pig at a little less than 10.5, unloaded with no glass mounted

Ha ha I took most of them a while back but I did take the last three tonight because I switched some stuff around and I was curious myself on how much they weighed. |
HBARS, long rails, under rail grips, weapon lights should be removed if you want a light to carry gun. If over 9 lbs unloaded, you can carry it, I'll stick to mine!
My guns except the NV set-ups are 6.8-8 LBS unsuppressed & unloaded. |

The .300 black is 7lb with the can and aimpoint? How long is that barrel?
Quoted: My Dissipator weighs exactly 7 lbs. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t135/eracer1111/2ndA/Spikes%20Dissy/SpikesDissy002.jpg My Grendel rifle weighs around 10. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t135/eracer1111/2ndA/Grendel/Grendel006.jpg My Carbine weighs 8.5 http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t135/eracer1111/2ndA/Adtek%20AR/Adtek013.jpg My .300 BLK SBR weighs 7. http://i159.photobucket.com/albums/t135/eracer1111/2ndA/Noveske%20300%20BLK%20SBR/300BLK_SBR_Can.jpg |

7.0 #'s with a half filled mag.
I'm with the balanced crowd. Other half's AR is front heavy. |
Hmm, I would guess my heaviest comes at 13lb. My lightest 7.5 lbs

My H-Bar Dissy is 10.5lbs unloaded. Haven't posted a pic of my little piggy in some time. Old furniture and scope: http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u40/Ricky_a_photos/IMG_1992.jpg Latest: http://i164.photobucket.com/albums/u40/Ricky_a_photos/IMG_4030.jpg Love the GL-SHOCK Stock. I have one on my Saiga 12. How is the kick on that? |
Almost non-existent. Between the rifle length gas, heavy buffer, heavy barrel, and muzzle brake there is very little felt recoil or muzzle rise. The recoil-absorbing features of the stock were really not necessary on this rifle, but it's a much nicer stock than the GLR-16.
