Makes it really hard to use a gas block. I've seen a one in a magazine before, but it was round from the FSB forward.

I believe ARP offers polygonol barrels - 16" barrel listed as : ––1 in 8 " twist 5R rifling- .700" UTG, .750 GB, .700 muzzle

How does your rifling work?
The shape of the lands and grooves are based on a circle, so there are no sharp corners or edges for the bullet to conform into. This means there is a tight seal and thus less bullet deformation. This rifling form is unique in its ability to allow the bullet to be centered and fully supported by the barrel’s bore. ++ And I even have a Noveske N4 with polygonal rifling, duh!! I get confused being dyslexic 
Damned, I read Molon's article wrong, mistook his N4 info- surgery, Morphine and keyboards are a bad mix, I guess... |

The PacNor/Noveske "7P", Lothar Walther, Shilen's "ratchet rifling" and the various 5R types are all a similar concept of modified lands of rifling.

Lothar Walther makes excellent polygon rifled barrels.
http://www.lothar-walther.com/380.php BTW the Japanese were useing polygon or (orb) as they called it in their Arisakas & MGs in WWII because of the harsh jungle enviroments that the rifles were used in. Those bores are also chrome plated. |

I have a BHW 18" SS rifle gas barrel coming in next week for a SPR build that I'm working on. I have read good things about then and got it cheap from surplusammo.com
