So I'm in CA which presents problems in and of itself but i need and OAL of atleast 30 inches.  I've searched all over the place trying to find this out and have come up empty handed.  Does anyone know if i'll hit 30 inches OAL with a standard AR build up w/ a standard A2 flash suppressor and a magpul CTR?

i'm sure it's been covered before i just can't for the life of me find it.

Thanks in advance.

I just measured my 14.5" w/ pinned Phantom and MOE stock.  Fully collapsed, it is a hair over 31". So, a 16" barrel and A2 should be between 32"-33" OAL with collapsed stock.

Thank you very much!

Yea you're good with a standard build and 16" barrel. California's laws are deliberately stupid, so don't sweat the small stuff. Just remember a bullet button, no magazine over 10 rounds, and an off list lower and you're set.

I don't know how California measures OAL, but the ATF measures with the stock fully extended, so you'd be well over the 30" mark.

my wife's 11.5" with fully extended stock is 30.5" IIRC, my MK18 clone is 29.5" (10.5" barrel fully extended stock)

For reference, KAC's SR-16 with a 14.5" barrel, and (what appears to be) a 6 pos. collapsible stock, measures 31 3/4" in length with the stock retracted ...

at it's SHORTEST possible length, meaning collapsed stock.

also i don't think you can have a barrel shorter than 16"  you could do a permanent pin for a 14.5" to get over 16inches. CA doesn't do SBR's that i know of.

I was just using that as an example for comparison... i wasn't trying to rub salt in the wound...

With a 16" barrel, A2 FH, and a CTR stock, the OAL length will be 32-33" (with the stock fully collapsed). CA measures the OAL with the stock fully collapsed (or folded). OAL > 30"

A 14.5" barrel with a pinned/welded muzzle device, making the barrel 16", works too. That will get you at about 31-32".

And no SBR's in CA. Oh, and don't forget the mag lock.
