What is the differance between a CRANE Sopmod and the  Gen. 2 Sopmod?

IMOD or Sopmod?     I own (2) gen 2 Sopmods.........but have been eyeballing the IMOD  as it appears to be a  bit shorter and possibly weighs less?  but dont know.....I think I was told 9.5oz for the IMOD

IMOD is less than 9.4 oz according to their website.

I have an IMOD and i love the damn thing... possibly more than my EMOD.  it is as close to perfect as it gets IMO.

I've been eying the IMOD for my SBR build. I have a modstock but like a std M4 gen2 better. I think the angled and padded butt of the IMOD might be much nicer than the modstock, just haven't been able to try one out yet. I like my SOPMOD too but wanted something a bit lighter for an SBR.

I had a sopmod on a SBR, and ended up putting a imod on it. The imod is not as bulky as the sopmod.

The sopmod is great, don't get me wrong... but for a small SBR, the imod balances better for me. The only advantage I can see for the sopmod is if your facial hair is long enough to get caught in the stocks that vltor makes.

I also have a emod, which is a bulky beast and seems heavier than the sopmod.

YMMV

Imod is my preferred stock for a carbine / lightweight rifle.  It weighs less than a Sopmod and is half the price.  What's not to like...

+1 IMOD is 9.4 oz on my digital postal scale, in comparison my EMOD is 14 oz.

I just got my FDE IMOD about three weeks ago to replace my 5 year old Modstock, the feature that I like about it is the angled and thread pattern of the buttpad similar to the EMOD.

The front of the old Modstock had a small vertical lip at the front end but the new IMOD is now smooth, and the lock paddle had been improved with better non-slip texture.

My minor problem with my old Modstock was the slip on rubber buttpad that if I don't tie down most of the time slips out or even just falls down to the ground, no more of that with my new IMOD.

I'm using my IMOD on my M4gery 16" with KAC M4 RAS rails, Surefire M951C light, and Aimpoint M2 with LaRue cantilever QD mount, I like the balance so far.
