You need a few more options, put 2 wheels on that bipod and tow it behind your Jeep!
Make sure you adjust for windage.

18lbs... 20lbs...it still dont count, without groop pics!

I wonder what the post master would do if I took mine to the post office to have weighed...
Where or with what are you guys getting your numbers? Im sure a bathroom scale is not going to get even within a pound at the bottom of the scale like that.

Mine are both in the 7lb range. The two uppers are roughly equal in weight but the one on the heavier lower has a microdot and the one on the cav arms lower has a 4-12x scope. It balances out.

Many people seem to have forgotten these are supposed to be light weight rifles.

I too went off track....but am correcting.

First step: ditched the PRS nd UBR....too damn heavy.

From the pic it almost looks like the spotting scope is mounted atop your scope...  Take that off to shave a pound off or so.

I think that the average weight for carbines is going to be around 8-9lbs unloaded if they carry an optic and a light.  Weight matters a lot.  Lug around an 8 or 9lb carbine, and then pick up a stripped down LW barreled model and it feels like a toy.  The same goes for transitioning from a heavier 10-12lb rifle to a 8-9lb carbine.

My carbine always feels heavy to me until I pick up someone else's, then it feels very lightweight afterwards.  I guess that means that I did well in picking my parts.

Also, where the weight is on the gun matters.  Any mass more than a half inch or so above the barrel is going to "feel" like it is making the gun top-heavy.  Any weight in front of the FSB is going to do the same.

With me holding it on the bathroom scales right after the Christmas holidays it gained about ten pounds.

But now, after it's taken a good morning mag dump my M4g weighs right at 7.8lbs with light and M3.

I thought that these things were supposed to be light weight rifles, my carbine weighs about 8lbs and my rifle weighs about 10lbs. and we complain about how much a Garand weighs.

My bench gun is 16.1 unloaded. M4gery is 9-10.5 I think.

I shoot my Garands as often as my AR. Haven't really cared about the difference in weight. Both are fun to shoot, but what the AR loses in lack of "ping", it makes up for in capacity.

For the record, My LMT is heavier than a Garand by a bit.

My AR weights vary just like most of the members here because of different optics, no optic, weaponlight, no light, barrel length and contour, stocks, and I'll callout the major components, all are with sling and fully loaded 30rd PMAG with M855/ SS109 ammo.

Colt 6721 with 16" medium contour midlength barrel
LaRue FF 9.0 rails & FUG VFG
Vltor EMOD stock
Aimpoint M2 with LaRue cantilever QD mount
Magnifier with LaRue pivot QD mount
Surefire M961C weaponlight
11 lb

Colt 6721 factory HBAR 16" carbine gas system
KAC M4 RAS rails
Vltor IMOD stock
EOTech 551 (small model) with LaRue QD mount
Surefire M951C weaponlight
10.5 lb

LMT M4 16" government profile barrel carbine gas
KAC M4 RAS rails
KAC VFG
Magpul CTR stock with enhanced 0.7" rubber buttpad
EOTech 551
Surefire M951C weaponlight
9.6 lb

Colt M16A2 clone rifle government profile 20" barrel
KISS, no optic and no light
8.8 lb

RRA A4 9mm carbine 16" government profile barrel
Daniel Defense EZ CAR 7 rails & CAA VFG with storage compartment
Magpul MOE stock
No name RDS
Surefire G2 light with Daniel Defense offset PAK QD light mount
32 round C Products SS mag (with IMI 9mm SMG ammo)
9.5 lb

(when my 9mm carbine was new KISS setup without rails, VFG, light and RDS = 8 lb loaded)

One of my next project would be a lightweight carbine with lightweight components.
