Well, advise your budget then. "As cheap as possible" still maintains a few variables.

word.

Also be aware of whats behind your shooting... shooting trees doesn't sound like you have a proper backstop.

What did that tree ever do to you?

DO NOT DO THIS... Most used rifles, accessories / other parts, increase in price in the E.E. Despite being used.

I don't understand this. Most if not all high priced items in the EE don't get sold and the seller winds up reducing the price or accepting a lower offer. The EE doesn't set market value IMO. At least not when dealing with dealers.

Yep.....you can get an $800 top tier AR from this fellow....

Go to Spikes Tactical and shop no more.

Also, I agree, leave the trees alone....we need them and we don't need any help screwing up the world any more than it already is......

....and no I'm not a hippy.

I just bought a flat top   $699  (rebate is over but these keep popping up in different places and before someone posts CDNN is selling for $599 they were out in late Aug).

Bought S&W MP 15 Opticat Ready (Flat Top) at Gander Mountain in Sherman, TX on Thurs 9/9. Was $699 after rebate  http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=118&t=509050

Monster 3 page post w/ links for sling and iron sight difficulties.

Also, I have a Cost/Benefit Analysis on link above.

$723 after rebate here:  http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/manufacturers_id/31/products_id/53496

I know you can build but if you cant find a flat top these might be an option.

I agree with Tom.  If you can't afford a quality rifle now, just wait and save up until you can.  It's just my opinion, but it does not make sense to spend $500 or $600 on a low quality rifle, when you can add $200 or $300 to it and get a good one.  $500 is a lot to spend on something that may equate to crap.

Man, don't shoot at trees.  Trees help keep this earth clean as welll as protecting the ozone layers to keep us from exposing to harmful UV rays from the Sun.

Pssh.. speak for yourself, I only shoot cool things, like pop cans, bowling pins, fire extinguishers, nuclear warheads, bald eagles, grizzly bears, viet cong, and alpacas.

I made one. Had my buffer tube screwed in a little too far but otherwise great rifle for shooting random things. I'd recommend the bargain bin rifles. Either that or a Del-Ton kit.

This is a pretty tough combo to beat. I got a SAA stripped lower from AIM (along with the LPK). I'm using a BCM 20" complete upper with it- but from everything I've read the Del Ton kit should be more then adequate for a casual plinker. All told you're still well under $600 including s/h & transfer fee.

if you shop around you can find something anywhere from 550 - 700. you might want to check your state's local gun websites and try for something local to save on FFL fees.

Another +1.  This will probably be my next rifle, with the lightweight upper.

Del-ton kit($465), ad cheap lower stripped.  (just say 100 after ffl fee).  Thats $565 and you just need either a rear sight or a red dot.  Del-tons are actually pretty good too. even have tested bolts now.  You dont get chrome lined, your getting cheaper barrel steel, ect tho.

edit, wtf with the hippies, shooting a tree wont kill it unless you cut it in half or go all the way around it(strip the bark off in a ring).  Anyway, where do you think your paper targets come from?  The berm at your range is grass (or dirt and grass was killed to make it) so you should shoot there cause your killing grass

but seriously.,.. at the hippies.

You want a gas block instead of a front sight.  Flat upper refers to..well...the upper
