Which would you pick, and more importantly, why?

I'd only go with 2 if I were going to set them up differently. It's kind of hard to top Noveske quality.

I'd do a Spike's 5.56 MidLE and Spike's 5.45 MidLE...in fact, I am!

5.45 for good cheap training ammo and the 5.56 for SHTF.

This man speaks a truth that can only be obtained as a Tier 1 Operator.

Quantity has a quality in itself.  Add that Spikes is high quality, and you'd have a quantity of quality going with 2.

I would go with the 2 Spike's over the Noveske.

+1

If a standard middy set-up were my go-to, this is exactly what I would do.

Id sell the house and buy TWO noveskes

For MID length I would go with Spikes, the quantity of Quality thing, but throw an Intermediate length in there I'm Going Noveske (that will be my next Rifle/Build).

2 Spike's.

They're different guns.

The Noveske will be more more accurate if you're looking to shoot small groups at distance.  Their barrels are amazing.

2 Spikes.  Either all 5.56 or (1) 5.56 and (1) 5.45.  Crunch the numbers and see if you shoot enough to take advantage of the corrosive 5.45 and if you are willing to do a little extra cleaning.  You still need to buy 5.45 mags and I've had mixed luck with them.  I got a tip and was told to lube the crap out of the internals on the 5.45 mag.

It honestly takes me an extra 15-20 minutes extra when I shoot corrosive and haven't had a spot of corrosion yet.  YMMV

OR

1 Spike's 5.56 middy and more ammo

What would be the trade off if you built 2 Spikes and one of them had a Lothar barrel....compared to building 1 Noveske....can you come close to the Noveske's accuracy with the Lothar? Realistically speaking what are we talking regarding accuracy with the Noveske? How much better is it than your standard very good rifle?

The Noveske would be more a present to myself for suffering 5 1/2 years of PCC hell. I am kicking myself for not picking up a pair of Noveskes when they were 1150$ a piece The name, quality of the barrel, and the overall gun. Not that the spikes would be bad, but after suffering through 5 1/2 years there I want a corvette, not a corolla, although I know the corolla will be a solid performer.

How are you shooting.  The Noveske is going to be VERY accurate.  Do you need to be that accurate?

Get the noveske.

Like you will lose much if you sell it

Mind if I ask a question first, Faded?  Well, I just did.  Darn it.  Allow me to ask another.  Do you currently own any AR15s at all?

Yes, I do own one.

Just one though, although I have built a few.

(LMT m4gery hopefully being sent off for some work soon)

Then get the Noveske.  You have a great gun already so, this would get you the 2 for the whole satisfaction of the two is one rule.  Plus, you could pick up a Spike's middy later as a truck/backup gun.

It's not the whole 2 is 1/1 is none bit. I'm a collector, like most people here, and the more the merrier.

I'd love to get an even dozen. That'd be nice.

If it ain't Colt it ain't S*** and go home!

Simple (2)  Spikes, I thought the answer was obvious?

Since you only have 1 AR currently I'd say no question get the two Spikes.... but get two different Spikes, maybe a middy and a LW or build on middy up and leave one stock.
