Only reason to go with Colt would be resale value. A lot of people have never heard of BCM.

Whichever you can get the cheapest.
Colt 6920's are around 1000-1150 new BCM Complete upper - $625 If you can get a good quality lower with quality parts for under $400 then go for BCM. If not just get the colt. They are virtually the same. Both great quality rifles. |

Slightly longer sight radius, ability to grip the weapon farther out = better control of the weapon, lower operating pressures. Some say reduced recoil.
You can use anything 9" or longer depending on the gas block. If it's designed to "drop in" then you'll need a 9" drop in rail. |

I hate these threads.
 Both are fantastic, and contrary to what some will tell you, both have great customer service. I would feel naked without a 6920, but BCM is also top notch gear and should be present in everyone's collections. You really must get both. I love my BCM midlength, it is just a fantastic weapon with all the chart features of a Colt 6920. |

I have a 6920 and 2 BCMs. I rate them equally, both are top notch, can't go wrong with either.
BCM 14.5" M4 
BCM Middy 
Colt 6920 (with Colt 14.5" upper, extended FH)

Anyway I'd go with a bravo company mid lenght upper with a cold hammer forged barreled and a bravo company bcg. If you want a rail get one of their uppers with a DD or Larue rail. Maybe add a gunfighter handle. Really either gun should be fine but I'd go with the bravo company one over the colt. the chf barrel and better support would be the big reasons. Plus you can get it from them with the rail installed if you want it(I would). For sights I'd get either an lmt or kac rear sight and a troy front sight if you don't get an upper with the a2 front one. |

I believe they are very, very close in terms of quality and durability. I would give BCM the edge on fit and finish, but Colt the edge on resale value (brand name reputation).

What are the accuracy norms (with optics) of the two with M193 ball (preferably IMI because that's what I keep in supply)?
Looking for decent (~1.5 MOA) or so at 100 and hopefully 300M from the bench. (No three shot groups, please.) :) |

BCM mid-length would be my choice.
I have a Sabre 16" mid-length with a BCM bolt carrier group. BCM makes some great stuff. I have 3 AR's, a 20" HB, a 14.5 carbine w/perm FH and the 16" mid-length. The mid-length is by far my favorite. Colt is very good too of course, I had an AR15A2 a long time ago but I don't think they make a mid-length. |

Not to mention that they are the ones who developed the TDP for the M16 and M4. But even with that said BCM makes an excellent product as well as a middy configuration which Colt does not offer. If BCM vs Colt is the option you find yourself in a win win situation. |

Both are top of the line and of equal quality. Colt will have the higher resale value and name recognition if you care about that type of thing. However I prefer BCM because you get a lifetime warranty
instead of a 1 year and I prefer midlengths on 16" barrels. Really you should get both during your lifetime. Colt for the history and BCM for the smooth shooting middy

for the older model colts, it may use larger non-mil-spec pins. this may lead to a hassle determining if you have larger trigger/hammer pins or the small ones.
bcm is a good company and so is colt you cant go wrong |
