Just got my BCM upper assembled to a Spike's Tactical lower. There is a little play between the upper and lower halves.
I do not have a rear sight, yet, but will probably be ordering one on monday..
I want to break in the SS barrel tomorrow without the rear sight if I can fiigure out the small rubber ring that came with the complete BCM BCG.
What is the small rubber ring for? Is it a spare?

How much play is OK between the upper and lower halves.

It goes around the extractor spring. I don't know if it's a spare or not. I didn't take my bolt apart, it rus fine as is so I'll find out when I clean it, eventually.

It is not a spare, they don't come with one installed, I'd shoot it without it, 99% chance it will funtion great without it.

It's not a spare, they just don't install it because it really isn't needed. You know it's extremely easy to just take the extractor off and look for yourself.

Not needed....ensures higher reliability if you're going to fight with it. Most of us don't plan that much "fun".
