You might not want to cut the case.  Once that plastic is cut, its tough to make it look good again.

If you want to cut the foam inside it, just use a razor blade or exacto knife.  Trace the gun onto the foam and then cut...Its actually really easy.

Knife, razorblade, or also hear of a guy using a soldering  iron.

One tip that I found worked great was using toothpicks to mark where to cut, so you don't end up with marker lines all over the foam from tracing.  And use an electric knife, it looks better.

Or put the gun in opposite of how you want it so after you cut you can flip the foam over and hide the marker lines.

Depends what you are cutting it for.  For my AR I cut through both.  Just make sure to take them out of the case before you cut it so you don't cut through the bottom padding.

For Mine I use a carving knife. The kind you cut turkeys on thanksgiving. The cuts were nice and smooth. I outline the first layer of foam with a sharpie by laying out the equipment opposite of how i wanted it ( to hide the marker lines. worked great and looks nice.
