I recently bought a DPMS flat top AR and am looking for some good folding back up iron sights. Any suggestions on an accurate and durable set that won't break the bank? The scope is one i took off of my GSG-5 until I can get some sights. Any help would be appreciated.

go magpup buis's they are around $100 set, just not sure if they will fit with your rifle scope mounted there?  Just ask the salesperson when you order how mych room you will need on your top rail.  and welcome to the site, nice rig

edit:  just realized you have a low rail on the gas block, don't think magpul will work, i'll be checking on this one.

The scope will come off when I get some sights on it. It's just temporary. Arent those sights polymer? I've heard they melt when mounted on the gas block. Is that true?

They'll work just fine, and if you ever have issues send em back and MagPul will send you a new set for free. AIM has them with 1c shipping:

I prefer Troy, if money is an issue, try YHM.

Unfortunately everyone has sent you in the wrong direction.  Not one sight previously mentioned in this thread is for a railed gas block.  All are meant to be mounted on handguards.   GG & G and MI make folding sights for gas blocks.  MI folds forwards, the other backwards.

I'm pretty sure the magpul sight will not work with a front gas block. I believe I read on the site I was going to order them from it said rails only. I know MI has a ste that will work and they are nice price and a quality sight. Try them and welcome. Just make sure whatever you get says it can't be mounted on the gas block.

use the yankee hills, front for a railed gas block.  it's longer.  you should be able to do them for around 125

Thanks for the advice guys. I've been checking out the Troy and Yankee Hill sights and I'm liking what I see but don't know if I'm missing another brand of sights that are just as good of quality for not as much. I don't wanna put some cheap crap on a nice gun but at the same time I don't wanna pay out the ass if I don't have to.

I use these.  Best bargain vs. quality.

Yea a few companies make front sights that are a little taller for the lower mounting point on those gas blocks. I have an MI on my 6.8 that has a railed gas block. Samson makes one as well.

Smith and Wesson is the only vendor I've seen with a gas block tall enough where it takes the standard sights.

Personally I like the look of the HK style sights.  Brownells (click the banner up top) sells some BUIS that use the HK style aperature and round front hood.  Fairly cheap as well.

http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/sid=51853/pid=25147/sku/360_Series_Flip_Up_Rear_Sight

You'll have to call them to see if they have it in black:

Either way, check out Brownells for great prices.
