Ive been wanting an AR for a long time now and I finally got the money together to get one, I got a bushmaster xm15es2 with what i think is an A1 upper it has built on carry handle and only windage adjustment on the rear sight. Its an M4 clone with the short handguard with holes in the top and bottom of the handguard im wondering if i can put a foregrip on this forearm without getting a new one do they make a rail that will attach to those holes? I have alot of questions and im new so any help would be great thanks

Congratulation. My first was a Bushmaster w/o a removeable carry handle. Yes, there are rails that attach to the holes. You really should post a picture, or the natives will get restless.
I sold my first Bushy, but I now have 5 AR's......I hope you can afford black rifle disease. |

Oh, I forgot one thing.....some on here will tell you that Bushmaster sucks, and they're full of shit. Don't listen to a word of that crap when it comes down. They're great firearms, and every mfr puts out a piece of junk from time to time.

i dont really have anything to take a picture with except a 1998 webcam and you wouldnt be able to tell what it was anyway, ill try to get someone to birng a camera over, but its just stock nothing done to it collapsible stock 16 inch barrel, i have the rail that goes onto the carry handle with like a thumb nut on the bottom to mount an optic well i put on a red dot and when i was done shooting the mount was loose i think it might have just been hand tight i dont know it was on there when i got it. Should i make sure its a little more than hand tight? or is this a common problem with this type of rail?

Yes, yes it's true they suck. Mine keeps sucking down ammo and killin paper - flawlessly. Of course it's an ugly old dissipator so it real really sucks...So much in fact, I may have to get another one say maybe a super light just to see if it sucks too....Congrats. I suspect you'll be nothing but happy with it.

I've been happy with all my Bushmasters.
I've used this rail to mount to the vent holes and it worked fine: http://www.midwestindustriesinc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=category.display&category_id=93 For the carry handle mount, you can use a little loc-tite on the threads to keep it from backing out if you're going to leave it there (I'd only do this if it was the see-through type that allows you to use the iron sights also). You can also put a slim plastic washer under the nut to protect the finish if you want. Welcome to the disease! |

2 years ago I bought a Bushy Caron-15 flat top....laugh at my ass if you will, but that damn thing is a sweet shooter.....
Fast forward to now...3 AR's later I'm working on building my first upper and am starting to wonder if the wife is going to kill me over this whole BRD thing.... |
|
Hey welcome to the site and congrats on the new AR. One thing you'll notice here is that we LOVE pics!

The builds never stop and they just get more expensive. I'm building a little higher end AR right now to get it out of my system for a bit. I guess you could say I'm trying to force myself into remission. |

I think there is something wrong with my eyes I can't see the rifle or a red X.

the very first Ar i bought was a BM and after over 7000 rounds, I hand less than 10 FTE/FTF's. At the time, i didn't even know that this could have been mag related. After switching to PMAG's, I didn't have another issue. Ended up selling it during the frenzy..

i got the pictures there off a phone so they dont look that great but i cant figure out how to put them on. i read the post on how to put a picture on, i have them saved to my desktop is it sayin i have to have a photobucket account or something?

My AR is a Bushmaster XM15 ES2 with A1 upper as well. I picked it up in March or April. Then I sent the upper back to Bushmaster and changed out the A1 for an A3 flat top and the gas piston conversion kit as well. Gonna put some optics on it eventually but just have a BUIS for now. Love that gun.

So if i wanted to get the flat top upper what do i all need to do? thanks for your help and where do i put the [mg] at can u give me example of how to type it Order it from bushmaster. You need a gunsmith to remove the barrel from the receiver so you might as well send it to bushmaster b/c they do it for free if you buy it from them. You can buy the full asembly or just the basics and they can take the rest from your old one. Bushmaster V Match "Flat-Top" Upper Receiver Assembly Part No: VUR-M2 Price: $190.00 http://www.bushmaster.com/images/catalog/Parts_Accessories/Lower_Receivers/VUR.gif Stripped V Match Upper Receiver Part No: 8448524-V Price: $151.95 http://www.bushmaster.com/images/catalog/Parts_Accessories/Lower_Receivers/8448524-V.gif You can ship your upper directly to Bushmaster b/c only the lower receiver is considered a firearm. |

Best leave it to a professional.. IMO |

I have two Bushies, an A2 20" rifle...absolutely flawless from the beginning, and an M4A2, which was a mess at the get-go, but that was most
likely a dealer or distributor problem. The carbine was returned to Bushie and shortly afterwards returned in a flawless state. Both are 1/9 twist and more accurate than I can shoot. A third weapon has a Bushie barrel, but the rest of the piece is a complete mongrel, so it doesn't count as a true Bushie....according to the faithful ! |

Best leave it to a professional.. IMO Doing it yourself is not impossible or even difficult but only if you are willing to invest in the tools you will need beforehand. And you'll need to do your homework before putting a tool a tool to the gun. That's where the pros come in, they already have the tools and the experience. It's usually much cheaper to just pay someone else to do it. |
|
Its not that i wouldt want a pro to do it, its just that i live in the middle of nowhere and these gun shops around here are shade tree i bet most of them have never even held an AR.
