There's a great series of pics on USAF PJ's on Michael Yon's site. About a quarter of the way down there's a really nice pic of a suppressed M4 being fired out of the helo.

For people that want to know what its like being with the brave men & women who serve our great country, Michael Yon's website is top notch. Incredible reporting & photos. I highly recomend going back & reading as many of the previous articles as possible. For those of you interested in actual combat & battle footage, apacheclips.com is awesome. ( I am not affilaited with apacheclips.com, I just enjoy watching the videos).

Excellent post!

I have a question for those in the know... on these PJ missions, on the Blackhawks (or any PJ helicopter for that matter), are the door gunners PJs as well? Or are they 'Aerial Gunners' attached to a PJ helicopter?

In one of the pics (during the rescue of the British 2 rifles soldier with an appendix issue, the pic of the PJ leaning towards the camera), you can see the PJ closet to the camera is rocking PMAGs on his chest rig....

Also saw some multicam.... is this common among PJs, them being special operations and all, or do they stick with the ABU?

ETA: What's up with the PJ in the beginning pics with the unreg hair?

SOF has modified grooming standards in theater. Multicam is being used by some SOF units in AFG and Iraq.

PJs can and do serve as Aerial Gunners, but there is a separate career field for Aerial Gunner as well, sometimes (possibly always) short manned, so PJs and CCT can fill in.

Medical folks get some extra leeway in that regard. SF medical folks especially.

Due to the environment they are in they use what works not whatever atrocity the uniform board pushes out

This. God forbid the PJ's are forced to wear that horrid ABU... I wish the AF would have decided on a uniform with some actual functionality instead of the BDU with a fancy new pattern that just looks neat and, well, thats it. It seems our uniform board is more about style than practicality.

Also, a big hooah to the PJ's. Some of the best troops our Air Force, or military in general has to offer.
