i saw a NIB Colt 6940 a the local range for 1650 and was wondering if that's a good price considering prices have been falling over the past month or so.  i also saw the new ruger 556 for 1500 OTD and i like both but i think in the long run the Colt will be a better invertment. what say you?

I say get the Colt.  Nothing against the Ruger but it is still a very new rifle for them and we won't know for some time if they will stand the test of time reliability wise.

Colts are proven, you know it will run, and getting a Colt with a built in rail system for $1,650 seems like a very good price.

I think that is a decent price I just got a 6940 for $1600 shipped about a month ago from Jim Wright Tactical Weapons USA on sturmgwehr.com. Prices may come down a little more though, but I did not want to wait.

i saw those but they want 4% extra if you pay by credit card plus shipping, and then i'd have to pay transfer fees which average 40 bucks in my area. after all that i'm right back up to 1650 so i might as well just buy it locally, plus the shop owner that has the 6940 is a great guy and i want to give him my business even if i pay a little bit more. thank for the link though i appreciate it

You should report them for charging the 4%.  That's against credit card terms to charge that to customers.  They can build it into the price but if they explicitly charge it, that's a big no no.  Same as people charging Pay Pal fees to customers.

Get the Ruger.  Sweet rifle.  Piston design is well done.

That's actually true. Credit card companies will revoke their privileges if they find out they are doing that.

Precisely.  He needs to advertise the credit price, and give a cash discount.  Rather than a CC penalty, it is viewed as a Cash reward

Exactly. That's why I pretty much only buy big purchases online now. It saves a ton of money on taxes.

Im not too sure how they like to be paid but i bought a pretty expensive rifle a couple of months ago with a certified cashiers check. no 4% penalty or anything like that. I guess thats one way you could go. I mean unless you wanna get it on credit.
