Went to the Dallas Market Hall gunshow today;  to my suprise and delight, there was an abundance of COLT 6920 rifles for the price of $1295!
I know that aint the best, but it seemed damn good to me, so I bought one.  Is it true these are as close as a civvie can get to the M4?

As close to a M4 as you can get out of the box.
Good buy.

Congratulations! That is a good price. Best I saw was the $1199 I paid last August from Bachman's. Only way to get closer to an M4 is to put a 14.5" barrel on it, SBR or extended FH.  They've had quite a few at that price here at the last few Houston  area gunshows.

It seems these went way up after the Exalted One was elected;  it's god to see prices coming back down.

Good buy.

Paid much more during the frenzy, but no regrets.
It's like the stock market - it's tough to time. Oh well.....

Colt made the commitment earlier this year to drastically increase production of the LE product line. This commitment included over $3 million in new tooling and infrastructure improvements.

As consumers, we are now reaping the reward of Colt's commitment, in the form of better product availability at more realistic prices

Nice.  You are going to need this link... Bill Springfield unless you like a 8.5lb trigger.  I sent my lower off to him last week for a 4 lb triiger job. It's much better now.

A 6921 is the closest a civ can get to the M4. The 6921 has a 14.5 barreled M4 upper that is the same upper placed on the mil contract M4.

Paid $1699 at Bachman's in December of last year after The Annointed One scared everyone into a gun-buying frenzy. And I was damn lucky back then to get it at that price, too!

That answers my "Should I look to GA to move out of Northern VA to get away from all the liberal douchebags that are ruining the area and State?"

as for the 6920, I got one thursday, 240 rounds thru it so far, knock on wood, kick ass.  congrats.  make sure you clean it before you shoot it.  like someone somewhere on the board said, "cosmoline is not lube"

First of all congrats on your new Colt.

Thanks for your tip on current low prices of new 6920 and I would guess it would be similar with all Colt models.

If it's your first Colt you won't get disappointed, I've been a Colt owner for 38 years now with eight former Colt rifles and carbines, currently still have a rifle and carbine I bought new in 2005, all with no problems, trigger weights varied but always smooth, I never got one that's rough.

I've got a 6721 now and want to get another same model when they become available again, hopefully with the same low price.

I didn't know that, but it sure makes sense. My factory fresh 6920 that arrived three weeks ago is 61,xxx. Sabre223's second 6940 he just picked up was 66 or 68,xxx. That is awesome, because that will lower the price gouging and put more ponies in more peoples' hands. I figure I'll be able to afford a 6940 in August maybe, and by then I'm hoping for ~$1400 -$1450 prices. Not too far off from the $1495 I saw last week on Gunbroker.

He won't necessarily need it. My 6920 has the nicest single stage trigger I've shot out of the box. No creep whatsoever. I had a Bushmaster that was 10x worse and I built a gun with an RRA LPK that had a shitty, heavy trigger. I built a couple of range toys with re-branded DPMS kits and they were actually nicer than the Shrubmaster and RRA.

You haven't been here very long, so I'll explain The toes in the OP's pic were probably deliberate. It is a perverse, backhanded tradition here on ARF.com to have feet in a pic of a new gun-and the nastier the feet are the better. It ensures that the image is authentic, and not canked off the Internet somewhere

all you need to do now is get some nail fungi removal in tactical olive drab bottle, and some tactical socks, to go with your tactical M-4.  go to an army surplus store and get as close as you can to army nail fungi removal, and army issue wool socks.

nice pick up.

When you guys were youngins did you used to always drink your whiskey with coke?  And then after time... whiskey by itself became reminiscant of coke?... So really....in small amounts.... one became almost as good as the other. (because we all know that, in large amounts, whiskey makes you better at stuff)

That is how I am hoping to feel about toes, you see?  I'm hoping before too much time I will associate one with the other and become obsessed with feet (hopefully my own, for convenience sake) and stop buying AR's.

Please keep posting toes so I can stop buying AR's.  Thanks friends.

Great 6920, easily one of the best deals I've seen locally in a while(I feel like there may have been entirely too many adjectives in that sentence).  Congrats!

The steel and aluminum parts are forged and finished at different times and places.  As long as they're milspec, parts is parts.

Steel parts on these Mil-Spec weapons are Manganese Phosphate, not blued or painted. This is a dark gray finish.

I don't believe Colt does, but Bushmaster makes an 'M4' barrel of 14.5" with a standard FH welded-on to make a 16" barrel. This little 1.5" makes a huge difference in the 'look'. Of course, you could have your new Colt barrel cut back and FH welded on...

Putting a Bushmaster barrel or upper on a Colt ranks right up there with banging an HIV infected porn star on the list of awesome ideas.
