Just curious, how quickly did BRD onset after you bought your first AR? Mine was 1 week to the day.

It's right at 1.5 years for me since I first bought anything AR related. Being unemployed really puts the kibosh on AR spending.
At the one year mark, I had one complete rifle and 2 more complete lowers. |
Don't know if you can count mine as I'm selling the first (never fired) but I sold the upper intending to just replace the upper, then I sold the BCG to swap it out, now I said "the heck with it, I want a matching lower" and am selling my original lower.
Optics are going to be hellish for me someday...EOTech to Aimpoint, back to EOTech...it's gonna be scary. |
I've had my first since February but still haven't bought a second. Too po' haha I'm still buying junk to put on the first one and trying to feed it, plus I have a DPMS LR-308B on order. But I figure, unless it's made illegal, I'll have another one within a year or so.

bought my first AR in January, in process of saving up last few bucks for the LaRue OSR... so answer is 7 months

I bought (my $$ dad did the paper on it) first AR in 1986 when I was 12 . Bought the next two complete lowers when I was 17. Been steady over the years since then.

It took me a very long time to get my second AR rifle, after my second it got quicker like every year.
Rifles: 1st SP1 in 1971 2nd A2 SP2 in 1984 3rd A2 HBAR in 1986 Carbines: 1st A2 SP2 in 1985 2nd Sporter Lightweight in 1991 3rd 6721 in 2005 |

2nd Oct 08 3rd April 09 4th - SPR build in progress Boating accident: to come |
I bought my first AR just before the last AWB went into force. I eventually purchased two more this year under the threat of another AWB.
About 5 years. Bought the first one a couple years after the AW ban, and then bought a SP1 before the end of the ban.
My first Bushmaster has shot many more cases of all my other AR's combined. |
8 years. Bought my first AR in 1974, sold it in '82, used the money to buy an M16A1 ($549+ transfer tax at the time)
I had the the cash, I would have 4 or 5 variants built out and another 6 lowers in the safe. Unfortunately, the kids gotta eat, I am stuck with 1 for now.
I'd say 8 years. I bought my first in o1' and then I bought 4 lowers and have since complete one. So I have 2 complete AR's at this time.
Started buying parts for my second build before the first was finished
About 1.5yr and I've bought multiples since... I've only been infected for about 2 years
8 years and I don't currently own the *first* one...it was a pre-ban Bushy A1.
Mine were several years apart. I know it is blasphemy, but there are other guns to buy for the arsenal beside AR's! All of my AR's have been purchased about +2 years apart.
I ordered two J&T kits the same day and that weekend I went to the funshow and bought two STAG lowers.
I just finished my first AR build and once I get the accessories I want on it I think I will look to purchase other battle rifles that I have always wanted like the M1,M14 or AK47. If I did get another AR variant it would be in 6.8 or 7.62 with a good gas system.
Hopefully, a long time or I'm going to be divorced when it does happen...
1st in 2007 Bushmaster M4 A3
2nd in 2008 DPMS M4 3rd in 2009 LMT SOPMOD Lower w/ LaRue 18in Stealth upper Its an addiction.....you almost feel like a junkie because there isnt enough money to get more! |
Less than a year between buying my first AR-15 and then buying an AR-10.
3 months.
Bought my first in February, got an itch to make one I could call "my own", so I started ordering parts for a build. Everything but the upper is in the mail right now. |

Used that first AR for 13 years without any problems and sold it in excellent used condition to buy my second A2 SP2 AR which is my first with 1/7 twist A2 barrel, A2 furniture, and forward assist. That was a great time too because I also got a new Springfield M1A National Match (M14 type) rifle but I still prefer my AR. |
8 years bought my first one before the 94 ban and bought the second one in 2002
I bought my first about three months ago and bought the 5th today. The first was a Bushmaster and today's gun was a LWRC M6A2. In between a Bushmaster, Stag and a DPMS LR308
After the shock and awe of my first?...maybe five days. Took me two months to get it tho.
After trying to unscramble all the different variants, FF rails, KISS, bbl. lengths, carry handle, red dots, etc. in my head while driving to work I know I need to build at least three more. |
About .5 seconds
I bought two lowers at the same time... Got my first upper last summer, working on saving my pennies for my second (hopefully a larue 18/12). I actually ordered a del-ton upper a few weeks back, but I don't have much hope of seeing it before the end of the year :( |
