I found a NIB one today and went ahead and put it on layway before someone picked it up and was woundering what the going price is for them today? I may sell my other rifle and just keep the Colt or I may just keep them both but the one I have now is just a parts gun with LRB lower, CMT lpk,  M1S 16" M4 upper, MOE stock and quad rail, but I only paid $850 for this rifle and the Colt is costing me $1850.

They can be found for a couple of hundred less at some shops.

I paid $1150 for a 6920 pre-O, and, IMHO, that is about how much they are worth.

For "collection and investment" post-O, I might pay $1500.

But $1850 is just frikkin OMGBBQ!!!111!!! nuts insane. It's not like they have stopped making them. New ones are, in fact, being delivered.

Take the money and buy another non-insanely-priced AR, or get more mags and ammo for the AR you have.

If you really want to pay $1850 for a 6920, maybe I could help you out. I would love to pocket ~$700 profit.

I'd say that you'd be better off looking for a gun on gunbroker and having it shipped to another shop. You can get them off there for $1600.

I dont want to pay $1850 and is why I was asking but am having a hard time finding one cheaper local, no CC to order one off line or I would but this guy is selling them every week at this price and I wasnt sure it was worth it. Maybe I can get him down a few hundred more dollars because he wanted $1995 and droped it to $1850 because I buy alot of stuff from him but may be able to do better if I tell him the $1850 is to much and dont want it anymore. So would $1500 be a better price if I can get him to go that low?

You need to find one somewhere else. That's way too expensive, it's actually the going price of a 6940 right now! Prices of 6920s have dropped significantly in the last month with the average being less

than $1600. There has got to be a place near you selling them for cheaper than that.

I'll look around but does anyone know if anywere in the north LA, east TX area with good prices I might can check out because I can get the $500 I paid down back if he want drop it to at least $1550. I'll talk to him tomorrow and see. All his other riflrs are $1200 (stag, DPMS, RRA, just the colts are through the roof) Oh and he sold an LE S&W MP for $1850 last week wich I also thought was outragous my self.

Because all the others have pincle barrels or heavy barrels, none of them have the M4 style barrel but the Colt and I am looking for a colt, I personally dont think any of the others are better than the rifle I have now to even justify buying another one except for the colt with the 1/7 barrel and better resale value than the others. But next year when they are all banned again I dont think I will have any trouble getting rid of any of them for what they cost now, plus I also have a DPMS 6.8 SPC so I'm not looking for anything else but a colt just for the collection more less than anything else.

Yeah but next year when they are NOT banned you will be stuck with a gun you paid $400 too much for.  You wont find too many buyers interest in paying $1800 for a 6920.  There was just a post on another board with a guy selling NIB 6920's for $1420 shipped to your dealer.

I would not spend that much for a 6920––-i'd say $1500 max.

Clyde's prices have been creeping up, but they currently have 6920s in stock for $1549 PoliceGuns

Personally, considering dealer cost I wouldn't pay more than $1200-unless I absolutely had to have another one to replace a damaged or stolen class gun. The current market stupidity notwithstanding these carbines are a simple commodity that aren't worth the foolish prices-at least not for me.

I would not get rid of the 6.8, just the frankin build 5.56 to recover some of the money for the colt, I just want a nice 5.56 and the 6.8 I already have. But I'm going to check out some of the other places mentioned before paying $1850 for a rifle I can get for under $1500.

Like most things, price and cost is relative to a variety of variables.  The $1499 I paid was more than worth it, due to intangeables.  In regards to whether or not is was a financially sound purchase, only time will tell.  Regardless, I didn't buy them to sell them in order to make a profit.  To each his own and happy shooting everyone.

Just give it a couple months and save your beans, you couldn't even find a 6920 a month or so ago now some dealers have stacks of them. The prices will fall again just give it some time. I too was convinced of the ban happening, but now I feel we have a little more time before they try and screw us again, let the panic buying end, and these dealers will want to move their stock. Remember they have bills to pay too.

Agree. I think a fair price for a Colt 6920 is around $1200 and a fair price for a Colt 6940 is $1450. We should be able to see these prices around August.

This is sage advice.

We are seeing more Colts in the distribution channel because Colt has ramped up production of their LE weapons. Well, the more literal explanation is that some of Colt's manufacturing capacity for DoD weapons is being used currently for their LE product line. I'm happy to see this, and I'm hopeful that having more product in the distribution channel will ease some of the market stupidity that we enthusiasts are having to deal with. It would be great if we started to see the same trend for ammo too :)

I unofficially ordered two from the B store. They didn't want to officially order any because the wait time was guesswork. Snagged a couple 6721s at a show, then got a call from the B store, we have one 6920 in, $1400. I passed.

If you have my rifle, you're welcome.

Hope it holds an inch at 300.

What is dealer cost on a 6920?

Man, arfcom is so clutch.  I'm on the market for a 6920 as well.  It seems 1450-1500 is what is the most common as of now.  As it has been said in this thread previously... who knows how long that will last.

I currently own a mt6730, which I got for a steal a couple years back.... It'd be nice If I could sell that for around 1100 now... and pay 1200 in a couple months for a 6920... so I really would only be paying 100 bucks plus my inital investment of 600 into the 6730.  (700$ 6920, bling bling)

Anyone know of any good dealers in the DFW area?  Seems like the interwebs may be the way to go.

Seeing one for $1350 is a good thing though. 6920 prices are a good barometer for the level of panic and price inflation in the EBR business as a whole.

I found one in stock from a local dealer...the serial# is LEO540xx. What are my chances that it will come with the .154 pins? Anyone have one with a serial number close to that which also came with the smaller pins? I also called Colt and the woman on the phone stated that they started shipping 6920's with the .154 pins, "a month or two ago."

Never posted before on any site so please excuse any site rule errors (just read them again to make sure).
I have been looking to purchase a colt 6920 for about 10 months and have seen the prices going up.  But recently i have also seen the inventory go up.  Is you go on some of the sale sites (not sure if i can use the sites names) you can see that they have large inventories, even use photos with 15- 25 boxes of 6920.  The sales are not moving as fast and they are even adding incentives (one offered 5 new pmag m) and kept the prices up.  When i contacted a few they are now saying they have several in stock and are willing to negotiate.  But still not to prices that reasonable or prices expected for mid to late summer (i know, i hate the idea of waiting that long too).  I was at the nations fun show yesterday and today.  The crowd is nothing like it was a few months ago (right after the election).  And venders have greater inventories than last time.  More ammunition, more mags, more lowers, etc.  They even started lowering their prices from Friday to Saturday.  new Black  Pmag M for $18 and make a better deal on 3 or 5.  Three months ago at the gun show they were for 25.  One vender would deal for colt 6920 but would not come down lower than 1499.  and he was starting to throw in mags and goodies.  Hope this was not too long. Great site and thank you all for your insight.

Well since I have it on layway I'm going to keep giving them $3-400 every week untill I get up to about $1300 and then tell him I changed my mind, either take the $1300 or I'll take my money back and order one offline with the money. I bet they take the $1300 and I take the rifle, if not no loss and I have the money to order one.

That's kinda silly.  Why would you keep giving him money?  How do you know he'll give your money back.  I'm sure they have some kind of back out clause where they keep a certian amout if you don't buy it.  I'd just tell him now his price is too high and get your money back––-then you can keep putting money away in your own bank and buy one from a cheaper dealer when you get enough money together.

I bought mine from Clyde's Armory about a month ago for $1499, which at the time was the best price that I could find. I noticed during the Memorial Day weekend (same week that my gun actually arrived) that they had a special on that gun for $1350... Now it seems like that price has stuck and even searching on gunbroker I find that there are some selling for as low as $1250 BuyNow. It makes me a little sick thinking how waiting a month could have saved me $250. I guess I got caught up in the I-better-buy-now-before-prices-get-worse. I guess I should have just waited. ;-) Live and learn I guess.

Just picked up a NIB 6920 in the Mesquite Gun Show for $1298 after tax $1406. High? Yes, but it looks so good with the other 2 in my safe. I have not seen many NIB 6920's for less, so I actually thought I did pretty good.

At the same show I saw other 6920's for $1600, and even one for $1800... maybe it had a Gold lined barrel.

AR - Collection is now:
RRA Entry Tactical
S&W MP 15
Colt 6920

and a stripped S&W MP15 lower.
