My three picks would be .223, 6.5 Grendel, and .458.

These are the three I plan to build on the AR platform.  What are your three?

.223, 6.5, 308...these are the "must haves"( you can substitute the 6.8 in there too).Anything else simply means that you're obsessive/ addicted.Like the .450 Bushmaster I have also.......

Oh and multiples of calibers are allowed.....

If I had to give them ally up but 3 (for rifles) I'd probably go with 22LR, 223 and 308.

For the AR platform its just 5.56,I have an M14 for .308 and .45,9mm,.357+.38 for pistols and 12GA for shotgun..always take into consideration ammo availability.I dont like to go to special because I always think"what if I need ammo and what will I find if any in an emergency"odd calibers are expensive to stock and maybe scarce when you need them the most.Keep it simple.

.22, 5.56, 6.8 SPC

Those will do it all in your same lower.

ETA: Everyone  likes the .308 - but I assumed from the question he was talking about the same lower.  If an AR10 platform's available, I'd dump the 6.8 for a .308.

5.56

.22LR (for low-cost pratice)

7.62x39 (for more power and AK compatibility)

Personaly I never buy non-military calibers, if I cant buy bulk ammo at a low price the weapon is usless long-term IMO.

.308 is in a AR10 and will not fitin the AR15 lower.

I think the OP means AR15 Calibers. Mine would be 5.56, 6.5G and .22LR. At this point, I still need a .22LR.

9MM would be my forth choice.

Assuming you mean when the world is changed and ammo is harder to find what would you want to have for a firearm/ caliber?
I would pick ones that are popular and thus available.  Also, calibers used by the government or LEO's.
.9mm
45ACP   (but 40cal might be a smarter choice)
.223/5.56

.22LR, 5.56, 6.5 Grendel

From short range training/hunting to door kicking to long range and "large" game hunting all on the same lower.

Got the 5.56 and .22 LR; planning out the 9 mm, but with 9 mm ammo so hard to find (at least where I live) I'm not looking to do the 9 mm very soon.  I any case, the 9 mm AR-15 would be a dedicated gun.

Best of luck whatever you decide.

Not legal advice, MHO, YMMV, etc.

Handguns; .45 ACP, .40 S&W

I also have 30/06, 30-30, & 30 Carbine but those have been safe queens for years now.
