What happens when you leave out the cam pin?  Several sources of data indicate the rifle will "explode", but I was hoping to hear from first hand accounts of what actually happens.

The cam pin is what causes the bolt to lock into the lugs before it fires. Without the cam pin, there is a very good possibility that the bolt may not lock closed. But it may close enough that the rifle could still fire. A rifle firing out of battery isn't something I want to experience.
