thats fairly normal, just looks like some anodizing chipping off. If it bothers, you could probably contact the mfg and complain about the anodizing, they may offer to fix or replace it for you. But like I said, its normal wear n tear. No cause for concern that I see.

I have the same wear on my new CMMG M4LE after about 120 rounds, also have some nicks where they installed various pins and caused damaged with whatever tools they were using. Barely noticeable, not enough to call them and complain.

Actually the anodizing on my Colts with deflectors seem to discolor more then chip off, they do have a nice yellow finish on them after a while.

I have to say I took a second look at the shell deflector scratches yesterday. That is exactly what it is there for though. Look at the rifles that are in active duty in Iraq and such. Now those have seen some you know what.

The last photo is from the door hitting the deflector. My shells do not make contact with the deflector at all, but the door does due to some very minor side-to-side wiggle room...which resulted in the same chipping shown in the picture.

I think your wrong, that is wear from the shell. check out my 20k+ carbine. the door does not hit the deflector that high up on the deflector. It is normal.

In the OP's last photo, it looks exactly the same as it does on my M4LE. I can open/close the door and watch it make contact with the exact spot that has the minor chipping. That spot on the door making contact with the deflector, also shows some very minor wear.
Unless the door and deflector being damaged in those precise areas is purely coincidental, it's not my brass causing the chipping. |

Only one way to be sure...remove the door, and go shoot 1k. It's for educational purposes, so I'm sure the 'ol lady won't mind me buying a few more cases of brass to replace the rounds I spent.

Those are beauty marks, son.
But if it bothers you, try some Perma-Black (like a paint pen), or put some electrical tape on your brass deflector. |

I don't get the wear that close to the port door . Mine is more on the deflector it self . But I like to put Wolf ejector springs in all my bolts too .
To the OP where is your brass hitting the ground ?? 2:00 ,3:00 , 4:00 or 5:00 ?? |

That's not only a good time to end a work day, but a great place to deposit brass.

My go-to ejects at 4:00 and if I'm in the lead, my buddy gets sprayed.
