Has anyone seen UID's on any Military M4's in service. Is the Military going to start doing this on all their equipment? I hope that at the very lease Aimpoint would start in order to make it easier to spot clones.

All of our new M4's, M249's, and M240's have them. The .50 cals and Mk 19's do not.

I was wrong, our new Mk-19's do have them. Only picture I have showing one is on a Mk-19.

I think this will be the next big cloning attempt, now every cloned piece will have a cloned UID on it!!!

Perhaps, but odds are that they'll all be the same.  If you look at more than one label, it should be obvious that the code is identical.

laser engraving i am assuming as it cuts a bit into the anodzing but doesn't hurts its protective qualities.  a sticker would come off in a matter of minutes.  and it wouldn't be hard to make each one different for a cloner, in fact that may be the only original part on a cloned aimpoint now.  i would hardly rely on one of these to verify it was a legit whatever.

seriously?  that is insane.  i know of a couple smaller machine shops that have laser engravers, i can't imagine colt and fn don't???  so, i give it 2wks until these are available on ebay, unless they are already...

Is it a "sticker" or a data plate that's epoxyed on?  I used to deal with ID tags for test equipment all the time, and they were separate, very thin plates with barcodes on them that we epoxyed on.  Well technically they had some sort of adhesive on them and a couple drops of MEK let us VERY PERMANENTLY adhere them onto the equipment.
